Your key statement was in the last sentence...."largely unscientific".
Let's break down the "look" of things...
Water looks like rubbing alcohol...not the same thing...
Wolfgang Tire Gel looks like Turbo Wax Tire Gel...not the same thing...
Klasse SG looks like cake icing...not the same thing...
What I am getting at is "looks are decieving". Just because something "looks" the same, doesn't mean it is. A true test would be to take a sample and have it lab tested, but I agree with you that this does not reflect true life...
If Menzerna works for you, great, it works for me too. However, I would be hesitant to knock Zaino for protection. In independent tests I have found Zaino to last longer, but Klasse to protect a bit better. However, these tests were purely observations which lacked a controlled experiment, so I use them for my basis, not a new thread stating "Klasse protects better than Zaino".
In closing, I would say to just keep all of this on the hush hush unless you have good evidence to back up your opnions. It will just save everyone from a flame war.
Fair enough. Again, keep in mind that my statements were posted here by someone whom I hope did not have the intent of starting a flame war (which he has attempted to clarify from the start), though the way the tonality of the original post seem to indicate otherwise.
There remains much argument in whether A is better than B, and such debates will continue through the years. This shouldn't be about whether A is better than B, but rather a POV, and as forums go, one POV is as good as another.
Again, due to differences in environmental factors, we may have differing results with different products. I agree that Zaino seems to stay on the car longer, but that's irrelevant since the premise of my statement was focused on protection
In the absence of a purely scientific experiment, the truth remains out there. Do keep in mind that I wasn't the one who brought this discussion to Autopia, and certainly not in the tonality that was used. Few of us here have any good evidence other than empirical ones and experiences that we share readily, and respecteach other enough to agree or disagree while refraining from turning a thread into a flame war. Perhaps if the original post had been posted with a bit more discretion or rephrased in such as way as to better communicate the intent of the question, i.e. to gather feedback from fellow autopians on their experiences with the durability of acrylic-based products as compared to established systems such as Zaino and Meg's, this would have turned out a lot more constructively
Again, since my statement was taken out of context by the original poster, I'd like to take this opportunity to carry on this thread in a constructive fashion to hear from you guys on your experiences with Klasse and Menzerna against the evil forces of bird poo, tree sap and acid rain
Peace
