My Ultima Experience

sounds good... I caved and put on some 476 as a winter cover, primarily as it just seemed better for rinsing and touchless washes. Since then the car has had odd panels topped with lots of different stuff, but I still hanker after the finish I got from PGP.

In a few weeks when I have 2-3 days at home the car will get a very thorough machine polish for the first time and then most likely the PGP again. How long it will stay on I have no idea but it needs to go on again....

Wow, four and a half months already?

The Charger hasn't seen *alot* of this winter's nastiness, but it has gotten mucked up a fair bit the last four months. I purposely haven't done any touch-based washings on it since the one I did right after the third coat of UPGP was applied. I wanted to see how well it would fare after an entire winter's worth of salt, dirt, snow, and all the other Salt Lake City nastiness, with just touchless washes. I'm very impressed. Yes, there is some stuff on the car that isn't going to come off until the next time I give it a touch based wash, but for the most part, the results are very good. A trip through the local touchless pressure wash still leaves the car looking good. It has provided better overall environmental protection through the winter than any other sealant I've used. It has also survived around 12 automated pressure washes.

I know that everyone here enjoys the good ole "how can you even tell if an LSP is still on your car" argument. Gawd knows there's enough locked threads on that one, but... *In my opinion* the UPGP is still on the paint. Can we please avoid an ensuing argument about this, and take ole supe at his word?

I have a bunch of cars lined up for spring details, and UPGP is going to be my go-to sealant for all of them. *In my opinion* it is a top notch product.

I still have my doubts about UPGP's 12 month durability claim, however there's not a chance I'll be able to test this for myself; the Vintage simply can not stay in it's container much longer. Spring is almost here.

I'm going to echo that sentiment having had a similarly happy long term experience.

Through no fault of my own :bawling: my Passat (single coat Ultima) didn't get a wash for the whole month of Dec, and then Jan, and Feb up to this last weekend.

It lives outside all the time, and had covered about 5,000 miles in that time - so was very dirty. To top it off, it had been in range of the sprinklers a few times :furious:

I did a standard two bucket wash this weekend - using my suds gun as usual, and was very very happy with the way the paintwork came up, and the crud came off.

Now I'm NOT saying that the paint has the same slick feel as when the Ultima was new - but everything came off of the car easily, and the paint looked great after such exptended abuse.

Never seen that before after such a long time since LSP application, and certainly not after a car got so crudy. :dance

Hello SuperBee!

Quick question............how do you know the UPGP is still on the car? How are you measuring durability?

Cheers,

GREG

Science teachers.... sometimes ya just gotta wonder if they ever really *read* anything, or just make stuff up as they go along...

Seriously, though, good to hear from ya, Greg.

Three coats of UPGP really has lasted this long. It's almost as slick and shiny as it was after the final coat was applied. If you took one look at it, you'd say (in your Science Teacher head), "Yup, that there's some pretty darn nice lookin' LSP". (Science teachers never were much on grammar. Even in their heads.) You can literally see it's still there. And it's still reacting to washes exactly the same as it did after the last coat was applied.

At least, you *would* be able to see it. If I still had the car. But alas, the yellow Super Bee is no more. Sold it last Friday.

You sold it!?!?!?!!!!

I always got the impression that that car was your baby. Isn't that car the main reason you purchased Vintage?

Vintage better than UPGP, or just a different product type & style?

Different type of product and style, for sure. High end sealant of choice: UPGP. High end nuba of choice: Vintage

What surprise?

^^^^

He traded his superbee in for a Honda Prius with a cold air intake.

Brandt,

Its good to see you around again! My desire to establish a standard is far fetched idea, hence the question about durability.

I can say since you turned me on to UPGP, I have been very impressed and so have many of my customers. I just wish it could be reapplied every 4-6 hrs.

Cheers,

GREG

Dangit, Greg, you've ruined my surprise! Not only does that bad boy have a cold air intake on it, I've put in *two* new high performance Lithium Ion batteries! She'll run the quarter mile in the same day, now.

I totally agree about the re-application time. One coat of UPGP just isn't enough. Two coats is better, but the stuff really looks outstanding after the third coat, and after the third coat has been QD'd once. Which means about 2.5 days worth of waiting.

I am planning on applying multiple coats of UPGP this weekend and have a question for you guys. I live in an apartment complex and have a shared parking structure, so even though it is better than parking on the street, my car still gets covered in dust fairly quickly inside the structure.

My concern is that in the 12 hours between coats, my car will be dusty. Usually, I would just QD before I reapplied, but will FK425 interfere with subsequent coats? Is my only other option to wash it between coats? :nixweiss
