I hope you do a full writeup on it, with products used. I have a white 4Runner as well and am anxious to see what works best on its single stage paint. Not sure why Toyota chose single stage on their white.
The silver lining is there's a repeat customer.ancing Dot: It's the unappreciated freebies for family or friends that stick in my craw.
A former S.O. went car shopping, really wanted something black. This is someone who doesn't take particular care of her vehicle... or anything else. I mentioned to her if she bought black she was on her own. Yeah, right.
So the previously owned black SUV shows up looking fairly decent although I knew what I'd see once all the dealer's glaze was cleaned off... swirls, RIDS, etched water spots. After a thorough cleaning and clay she was steamed and demanded to know what I'd done to her glossy, black SUV! :cursing:
I spent 3 days and 30+ hours giving it the works, some wet-sanding, compounding, polishing... even broke out the 85RD and jeweled it to perfection. A couple of coats of 915 had it looking stunning. So perfect that the coating of dust on it the next morning was flawlessly even. :toetap05: She was so thrilled she immediately took it to show a friend her new sparkling ride... the friend that just happens to live on a dirt road. Did I mention it had rained copiously for the 3 days I was slaving away in the garage? :banghead:
I never detailed it again. Washed it occasionally when I couldn't stand to look at it but nothing more. As this was merely an indicator of other issues I sent her packing soon after and avoid women with black cars.

Sorry Huckster I didnt take any pics. If I had known earlier I would have taken some for you. I used megs 205 and thats all it needed for polishing . It came out really nice and polished out quickly.
Ive used megs 205 on a couple Toyota single stage whites and had the same great results.
Next time find a GF who does her own car !:Car smiley:
It's on the top of my list. Sandy Eggo does seem to be a bit far to relocate though.

Maybe you could really score and find a GF to detail yours too while you kick back and drink beers and watch football all day long![]()

It may sound odd that I wouldnt appreciate repeat business but I would rather have people less often and ones that take decent care of their cars than people that neglect and abuse their vehicles and then want miracles .
Ive been to the point where Ive actually been scolding my customers!:-t  But I guess getting paid is better than not getting paid!LOL
Well too bad your ex didnt appreciate all the work you did enough to take care of it . Next time find a GF who does her own car !:Car smiley:

:iagree: Its always seems weird to me when I see a wealthy person penny pinching and wanting deals , and then you see their extravagant houses and cars .It doesnt make any sense !Its not even the ones who do not have any price limits.
I appreciate the clients that are not cheapos and understand quality vs price.
I know more rich cheapos than I do middle class average income cheapos.

For some people pinching pennies is how they got where they are.
There's lots of different ways to acquire wealth. Some inherit, some command a large income, others marry money. Then there's those that are goal oriented that spend much of their lives planning and plodding along, budgeting, saving & investing while living below their means and living frugally making cutting out waste and the unnecessary a lifestyle. 20 to 30 years down the road they have a 7-figure+ net worth and nobody would ever guess it. It really isn't difficult to become a millionaire over time if that's your goal.
It's been my experience that those that are truly cheapskates are those that didn't have to work for it, live ostentatiously and live on cash flow with a low or negative net worth. Perhaps they're worried about running out of loot because they don't know how to make more. Big-bucks houses and cars aren't a real indicator of wealth. Those that live frugally and take great pains to pinch pennies hard enough to make Lincoln squeal are more frequently interested in maximizing value for their dollar. While they may dicker for a deal they frequently tip well because they really appreciate the work and value what's gone into it.
