!!!!! Meguiar's Lab Sample "d"!!!!!

Here is a close up shot of the Klasse section next to the Zaino section, (Remember, the Klasse section didn't bead well to start with, now here... side by side after one wash, I can't tell that any beads on either the left side of the picture or the right side of the picture are any better or worse,

My honest conclusion is this,

Depending on your wash solution...

the results of most/many/all products are greatly diminished by just one washing

Someone told me that the Z7 was a pretty strong cleaning soap, so maybe next time I should use something that is very gentle, such as the #00 Hi-Tech Wash. This is bodyshop safe wash that is non-detergent and has a pH level of 8.5. While some would argue that this is not pH balanced, it is in a window or range that by the time it is dilluted with water at the correct dilution level, it's not a factor.

Any comments... complaints?

I once pH tested the Zaino soap and it is 100% neutral, a 7.0 on the scale.... so in my science-based opinion, whoever gave you the info that Z7 was "a pretty strong cleaning solution" was feeding you a bunch of hooey!

also keep in mind that part of why klasse wasn't beading as well is because (I believe) it is meant more to sheet water than bead it. I can't say this to a certainty however.

Hi Shiny Lil Detlr,

I didn't give the information/opinion about the Z7 being a fairly strong car wash any weight in my test, it really didn't matter whether it's strong or mild, I was going to use it no matter what. Besides that, I just go by end-results and in this case all products appeared the same when it came to beading after one wash.

If you look at the diagram picture I posted you will see a note by the Klasse section that says, "Very clear".

I would say Klasse SG is a very interesting product as far as application goes and results. Very interesting. It almost seems as though your applying nothing? Yet.. it turns the surface very dark. Like I said, interesting.

Darn Mike, I would love to but I already have plans for Texas this weekend to see the Pats play the Texans. Tuff decision ... NXT and Cali or Pats 2nd victory over a Texas football team??? ;)

I will e-mail you my address so that I can play (test) NXT next week. :D

Mike- I've been following your trunk-of-Honda test (both here and elsewhere) and I really think there must be something weird about that paint. I have NOT used Z7 wash (or Z1/2/5), but MAN do I get different results with some of those products that I HAVE used. My Klassed vehicles, even after numerous washes, get tiny, nearly spherical beads- truly EXCELLENT beading. The kind of tiny beads that often blow off when you drive. So did the car I used BF II on. In fact, these products sorta remind me of the beading characteristics of Meguiar's #16, if that tells you anything. Sheeting? Only after QUITE a long time (months), I would almost always reapply long before they sheeted. I DO get diminished beading and optics from P21S and (more so) Souveran after a wash, sorta similar to your results.

Great test, good controls and VERY good documentation, but the results are just SO different from my experiences :nixweiss It DOES occur to me that I apply numerous applications ("layers"?) of sealants, so maybe that's it? There ARE always just SO many variables...

ANYHOW, I'm gonna have to try the NXT too! Keep us apprised as to how to get some when it first becomes available.

[

NXT - Good water beading

Klasse - Very little water beading

Zaino - Excellent water beading

BlackFire - Good water Beading

P21S - Good water Beading

Pinnacle - Good water Beading

That is a wonderful comparison between all of these products. :xyxthumbs If you don't mind, can you elaborate the difference between VERY LITTLE; GOOD AND EXCELLENT water beading? There's a new product that I just used on my vehicle and I've noticed the difference in the way the water beads from a regular wax. I would like to compare it to that. Thanks.

Yeperdoo, (as I would say to my son),

There are a lot of variables.

That's why I stress it is so important to perform all tests with integrity or the results are meaningless.

A note about Klasse SG.

After applying it, and allowing it to dry to a haze and then remove it, a little while later I dropped some bottled water onto it.

It didn't bead well and the water actually seemed to re-liquify the dried coating. I know I should have let it set-up for at least 24 hours... but I was curious right then at the moment. (this by the way was not a test I did on the trunk of the Honda).

Excellent = small, tight and tall

Very Good = mostly small, tight and tall with some larger beads

Very Little or So-so = Not a lot of beading going on, instead the water drops just more or less spread out. This tends to mean there is very little surface tension on the surface.

I'm going to do the test again, only this time I will machine buff the surface and start out with something closer to flawless instead of mediocre.

Have to go....

Mini Cooper clinic tomorrow....

Nevermind, it was my bad attempt at a joke. I PM'd Mike.

Hi BW,

I read your questions in the PM but I'm dog tired and going off line after this post. (They are good questions)

My wife Lynn is making me work on my book all day tomorrow, (no posting to forums till Monday), so I really can't get to your questions or the 1500 + at this time in my inbox.

If anyone following this NXT Tech Wax/Lab Sample E thread wants to see what this product can do without any prep work, check out the results from the Mini Cooper event at Meguiar's today. I think we buffed out approximately 15 Mini Coopers using Lab Sampe E

Here's a link to the event/thread
