Megs Ultimate QD is here!

I use it regularly. It does a decent job of cleaning similar to LT. It just leaves a much slicker and shinier surface.

Hi everyone. New guy here. I saw this stuff at Wally world and at first I was hesitant, havent been a big Meguairs fan lately, back in the 90's it was all I used but havent liked any of there stuff since, but decided to give it a try.

Washed yeasterday and used just the UQD and can say I am impressed. I have used just about all the OTC QDs and Z-6. I like this one the best, my previous favorite was TW Platinum Detailer. Not as slick but amazing shine. People were commenting on my ride non-stop. The UQD gives a nice slick finish and decent shine. I live near Tampa so we'll see if it holds up to daily acid rain.

I just got some AW so I will compare the two. Sunday Im planning on:

Wash with Zymol auto wash

Meg's clay (the only one they had)

DG 652 Pre-cleaner

DG 111 (multiple coats)

DG AW

on a black 99 Mustang GT vert.

I'll keep ya posted.

I just picked up a bottle today on a whim because I spotted it at Autozone while borrowing their OBD II reader. Since my car hasn't been washed yet (I plan on washing tomorrow) I only used it on a the front fender. I am definitely impressed. This is easily the slickest QD I've used. The cleaning ability is on par with my other fave QD 425 but leaves the finish slicker. The last product to impress me with it's slickness was the RDF beta; this UQD is just as slick. Nice product.

For a while now I've been using Meguiars Last Touch in an aresol can. I like it a lot and use it frequently. Has anyone used Last Touch that can make a comparison with UQD?

I have LT in the aresol can as well as in the gallon and use both regularly. UQD is another level up in slickness and shine. I actuall use the LT for during the week and UQD once a week. It has worked out nicely.

I disagree. Megs was the company that introduced us to QD's if I remember right. They have always had some very good QD's and my favorite was Final Inspection until UQD.

I don't see them as falling behind the competition. This UQD is after all a QD and not a booster wax so it should not be compared with that genre of product. Compared to other QD's, UQD is a great product, IMO. The way it repels and sheets water are like nothing else I've used and I've used a lot of QD's.

This is not a replacement for a booster wax and is not marketed as such. I doubt anyone would find the durability of the UQD to match that of a booster wax. So why should we compare it to one?

Ok its not a booster wax. So lets look at megs NXT booster wax, complete crap. Hard to use, hard to get off, eh.

Their new QD might be very good, yes, but better has been around for over 2 years.

Well not really crap. I've used it and if you apply it thinly with a foam pad it is easy to apply and remove. If you spray it on the paint and smear it around too thick it is a PITA to remove. Thin and even leaves a decent look with no streaks. Not my favorite product though. I'd just as soon reapply another coat of NXT Tech Wax liquid, or better #21.

When a product that's meant to be a companion booster product doesn't perform like it says, that's crap to me. You said so yourself that you'd rather just apply another coat of NXT or #21, which has been what most people have said about NXT Booster, including me.

I know you're a Meg's fanboy, but don't give people the impression that NXT Booster is a wipe on wipe off product. It's wipe on, let haze, and remove. After CG's air freshener products, I would say NXT Booster/Spray Wax ranks 2nd for biggest waste of money. Put that $8 towards a bottle of Meg's UQD if you want to stay within the Meg's family of products.

I just used Meg's UQD last night. I topped my layers of Zaino with it. I washed, Z6'ed dry then Z-8'ed. Let sit for a bit then use the Meg's. It deffinatly gives it a deeper look! No smearing. Easy on easy off.

No rain since last night so I cant tell you about beading or anything, but I can say bugs come off MUCH easier than just a freshly Z-8'ed finish. Who knew? :2thumbs:

My only complaint is the price. I can buy a gallon of Final Inspection or Eagle One's Wipe and Shine for $20- $25 and they are both good QDs.

I bought the Ultimate and so far the jury is still out. Possibly after I've used it a while I will see the extra value? Or not.

I picked up a bottle today for $8 and I was impressed. It added gloss and really deepened the finish on our silver X5. I honestly like it more than that $20 Zaino Z18.

No need to call people names on this forum.:nono

I don't think anyone has ever tried to pass NXT booster as a wowo product. The product packaging itself explains its usage. If you thought otherwise then you should read the directions. While NXT booster lacks the ease of use of other spray waxes it does what it advertises; it boosts the appearance of NXT Tech wax if applied correctly.

What I like to do is use Meg. Final touch for it's cleaning abilities then come back with a thin coat of the meg UQD. It leaves the finish the slickest of any QD I have used. Depth good but not excellant. I think Quickshine and FK 425 leave a deeper looking finish. ZZ

My point still stands, megs is 2 years behind in their product development, and even more with the NXT booster wax.

Everyone is oohh ahh their QD, well jee, the largest detailing company in the world just entered the arena with a QD....whoopie.

And topping Z8 with this QD is like putting ketchup on lobster.

I wouldn't go that far. But any QD will wash away in a short amount of time. Z8 will last far longer than UQD because it isn't a QD but rather a gloss ehnhancing spray sealant.

You, my friend, must be the life of a party.

Have you tried this new product? If not, I can't say your opinion really has any value. But, we are refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view. :ignore

I know it'll wash off...its just like any other QD that cleans and enhances gloss. I'm just saying that the bugs that I obliterated on the way home were MUCH easier to remove than before.
