Megs Ultimate QD is here!

Just curious if anyone had polycharged UQD. PCing seems to add slickness, gloss and durability to other QDs and it would be interesting to know if it does the same to UQD

I've used crystal mist, etc and think that the Mequiars UQD stands up to any of them.

It seems many times we become a little too critical of OTC products.

I should be trying some PC'd UQD in the near future, I'm going to do it over some sonus paint cleaner, to see how long it lasts.

I found that the UQD gave my black paint a blueish reflection. It is very slick but is gone after getting wet 2-3 times.

I think that I get a better 'super' detail spray when I mix up 1/3 Z-8 and 2/3 Z-6 OR 1/3 AW and 2/3 FC&S in a 3oz mister spray bottle. I think the durability and look is better with either misture

I bought a bottle and used it for the first time two days ago and was disappointed. I agree w/ another poster that it definitely "grabbed" my MF towel as I applied it, and relative to other QDs I've used it was not nearly as slick or shiny. Even after 12 hours of curing.

As a water repellent it appears to be pretty good, as yesterday I washed down a couple of panels just for kicks. I won't be buying this again. For me a QD is about looks and sometimes cleaning ability. Still, it was fun to try.

I'd still like to try this, but haven't gotten the opportunity yet. I'm sure it will be a good product, as I've had success with other Meguiar's products.

Good point bence. DJ, I have mixed AW and FC&S before but wasn't sure of the correct dosage. Your not related to DR William Bailey of Duragloss are ya (never hurts to ask)

I'll give meg's a go after I have purchased all the other products I need for the shop

Maybe it mixed with some other QD's may give a better result

My extended experience with UQD on black, red, silver and metallic gold.

Easy application, no streaking no matter how applied, removed or color of paint. Very slick. My MF and cotton towels slide off the hood on their own. It's easily as slick as any wax or sealant product I've used.

The look is clean and clear. It leaves the car looking like it has just been detailed. The slickness, beading and sheeting action lasts through a couple rain storms and even a LaserWash (I was out of town).

This is a QD that thinks it is a mini-quick wax or sealant booster and it does that quite well. Here is the big plus for me: Bugs don't stick. Well, actually they do but they rinse off easily with just a hose.

I typically QD after every wash and I'll definitely be using this UQD in that capacity. Now what am I going to do with my gallon of Final Inspection? Well, I guess I'll just use it for clay lube.

Here is the look on my 1991 Red MR2.

Wash, Clay, #80, #21 (x2), UQD.

No there's no relation to DR William Bailey of Duragloss. I got the idea from some of the DG gurus on this forum. I started with just a few squirts of AW (Z-8) into the FC&S (Z-6) and kept going until I felt that the cleaning ability of the FC&S (Z-6) was starting to be compromised. The UQD looks more like the AW and FC&S combo to me. The Z-8 and Z-6 combo has better clarity and sharper reflection than both of them. I use the combo's when I do not feel like (or have the time) wiping the car down and buffing with 2 products.

As far as FK425. The look of FK425 is better than UQD but the beading of UQD is better and longer lasting than FK425.

I don't see a warm carnuba look in UQD that some are saying that are seeing. Even on my wife's silver minivan the normally whitish reflections have a blueish hue to them. Anyone else notice this?

UQD does work great for detailing the exterior windows.

Use it the first time today on two cars and the shine on them was better than before and wetness too, now i have to see how long it will last.

I saw one bottle of this at Walmart yesterday but there weren't any tags showing the price, nor did I see any other bottle of this product on the shelves (maybe it's selling really well?). When I took it to one of their price scanners, it came up at $9.49. If there was a $5 rebate like some had gotten from Pep Boys, I probably would have purchased it, but for $10 I'll pass for now since I have more than a gallon left of AW.

Like someone else had mentioned, the smell is almost if not identical to NXT. I'm glad for Meg's fans because they finally have a decent product to replace the NXT Spray Booster, which was pure junk. I wouldn't be surprised if that product is phased out now that UQD is here.

I'm also in the same camp that feels this product is a bit late to the market, especially when that company always brags about how they've been in the business for 100 years +. I'm starting to think that Meguiar's way of thinking has been similiar to how The Big Three American auto companies have been running their businesses. I'm a SoCal native and Meguiar's has been the most powerful car care product brand since I was a kid, but I've jumped off their band wagon. I think they underestimated their competition, especially the smaller companies.

I disagree. Megs was the company that introduced us to QD's if I remember right. They have always had some very good QD's and my favorite was Final Inspection until UQD.

I don't see them as falling behind the competition. This UQD is after all a QD and not a booster wax so it should not be compared with that genre of product. Compared to other QD's, UQD is a great product, IMO. The way it repels and sheets water are like nothing else I've used and I've used a lot of QD's.

This is not a replacement for a booster wax and is not marketed as such. I doubt anyone would find the durability of the UQD to match that of a booster wax. So why should we compare it to one?

It's funny because i have never tried a megs product i liked enough to buy it a second time till now. And now i'm paying $10 for a small bottle of QD and happy to do so !

How is the cleaning ability on this stuff? I regularly use DG 921 and I'm really happy with it but if this is a good product I'd like it give it a try. I need a OD with decent cleaning ability though...
