Megs Ultimate QD is here!

just had some sent from megs.com

applied over a 12 hr old coat of megs#21 - so far so good

cleans nice (bug splat, some mild sap and pollen)

smells nice

shine is nice (#21 darkend my paint so much it muted some of my pearl coat, the QD seemed to bring a bit of the pearl back)

beading, dunno - no rain so far

Bought some UQD at my local auto body paint shop on WED for $10. It had a mail-in rebate for $5. So for $5 you get a 22oz bottle with an excellent misting sprayer. Pep Boys will carry it soon from what they told me. Advance, Autozone, Napa, Acme, Carquest, Target, W/M do not have it at this time.

used it several times. leaves the surface super slick. kind of like the chemical guys quick detailers. the only thing i don't like is their bottle. the sprayer just pushes down onto the bottle and is suppose to hold. its doesn't screw on. first time i used it, i dropped it twice and spilled it on the floor. also fell a 3rd time, but caught it just in time. i'm used to sprayers just hanging on by the handle to my hand.

It may not continually bead crazily after a few days. But if you have a good LSP with it on top of it (as i do on my truck) it holds up well. Actually I was hit by one of those freeway irrigation sprinklers a week or so ago and the water literally SHEETED off my truck. didnt even come close to sticking. I give credit to UQD. I now have two bottles and its one of my favorite products ever.

I guess its important to consumers who like the look of beading...along with Autopians (although they really know sheeting is better)

I think most typical consumers do relate beading as some type of protection but I have found water sheets off very nice with this product, it really helps in drying your vehicle after a wash since the water tends to roll/sheet off the vehicle very quickly and easily. Sure in a typical rain its going to bead just like any other wax/sealant.

water beads & rolls off like a MF'er in the rain - will see for durability - used over NXT(on the g/f's Murano) and over #21 on my Xterra

has anyone compared it to megs mist & wipe qd or poorboy's s&w for cleaning bug & bird splats? or is it just for water repellency/shine?:think2

Yes this product beads profusely in the rain but it sheets better than anything else I've tried when used with an open hose. They've accomplished exactly what I wanted in a QD. It also sounds like some here are confusing this QD with an LSP, which it most definitely is not.

I've driven my car with this product on it in the rain and it works just like RainX does. The high surface tension makes the water drops race to get off the paint. This is exactly what I want on my paint. It leaves the paint super slick. I've driven my vehicles through love bugs and June bugs so that the front of the car was hardly recognizable. They all rinsed off with just a hose spray. This is some slippery slick stuff and again this is just what I want on my paint. After washing my car two times the paint is still super slick so this is not like most other QD's in that it actually sticks around for a while but it is not an LSP.

You really should give this product a try and form your own opinion. For me this product has earned a place at the top of my QD list.

I did a mini first impression review here back on 5/22.

That question was asked on the Meg's forum. Here is the exchange from Mike Pennington

When will Ultimate Quick Detailer be available at retail stores (ie., Walmart, Autozone, etc.)?

...You should start to see it on shelves end of May or 1st part of June !!! Stores that you sill see it in first....

Wal Mart, Advance Auto, AutoZone, O'Reilly, Pep Boys and CSK.

im new to this whole scene, but whould this be something that i would use when i dont have time to clean my car completely, and my car is already mostly clean, and i need something to just boost the shine a little bit?

like say i was going to a car show, i see people spraying stuff on their car at the show. Is that what this is?

Or say i was going somewhere and wanted my car to look extra nice...just use this and it should look alot better right?

This stuff DEFINITELY will boost the look of your LSP, the slickness of your paint, and just "wow shiney" haah. and it also has some protection in it as well which will help your LSP last longer... :)

Just checked Pep Boys and Autozone. No luck :(

I called megs about a week or so ago and was given dates for each chain. I can't recall exactly when, but i think the earliest date as around the middle to end of june, and i can't remember which chains were first for delivery.
