M105/m205

the first time i used 105 i was tempted to go directly to the final polish myself...105 finishes well. have yet to try 205 but i will this spring for sure..

OK so i know i promised pictures, but Houston is being attacked by cloud of yellow tree pollen so thick it looks like soup flying out of the trees.

I was so excited after the mustang - got the first application of BFWD on... that i did the BMW yesterday only one-stepping with M205 on white (it is silver) and put on the BFWD.

They both look awesome... and I can say the hype is real.

Will get those pictures - might just do them with the pollen on to see if you can tell. :spy:

What are your techniques guys? I find 205 works very well on soft paints with the DA, maybe I can help you out :)

105 and 205 are fantastic products, just make sure a thorough IPA wipe down is carried out after each as they can mask/fill light defects from time to time..

Before I tried it, I thought it was all hype. Now it's my Number 1 combination! The best compound/polish combo I've ever used. Nothing better in my book!

After looking at the chart , I am a little confused here ,the M105 is more aggressive than 3M Rubbing compound and M205 is middle of the road.
Obviously, pressure ,pad choice and speed really come in to play here.
I would assume that M105 would be used for pretty serious paint correction but not for light mars or very minor correction ?

It isnt stated of which if any are diminishing or non diminishing , does this come in to play here ?

If I understand this correctly, the M105/205 products use SMAT abrasives (the acronym escapes me at the moment) and is a non diminishing abrasive. The longer you work those 2 products the longer it's "correcting". M105 uses a larger or more coarse particle and the 205 is smaller offering more gentle refinement but neither "breaks down" like other products using diminishing abrasives.

There's definitely noticeable marring from the 105/orange. So, I'll follow 105 with 205, Griot's DA, and white pad on speed 4 with a few section passes, light pressure. Helps a bit. Then I'll try the same thing with a black pad, helps a bit more, but in the end, there's still polish induced marring after an IPA wipe down. What technique do you use? Generally speaking. :)
