It's Football Playoff Time!!!! Let's Talk!

Anyone's favorite team going into the playoffs? Mine, as most of you already know is the Eagles.

What a crazy year this year in the NFL. Underdogs beating the favorites, majority of home games being lost, suprise teams (Jets, Saints), the Eagles going from 5-6 and left for dead to going to 10-6 and division champs, Ladanian Tomlinson scoring over 30 touchdowns, and on and on.

I think the playoffs are going to be exciting this year since there are several teams in it that at one point were not expected to go.

Wildcard weekend: What are your picks for each game and why?

Here's mine:

NFC

1. Seattle/Dallas:

My pick: Seattle

Why: The 12th man, Sean Alexander, and quite simply I don't know what in the world has happened to Dallas, but if they play like they have been, it's going to be a long offseason.

2. Philly/NY:

My pick: Obvious

Why: Momentum, Jeff Garcia & Westbrook, Defense has stepped up tremendously, Eli Manning makes a ton of mistakes when under pressure, the Eagles pretty much have Tiki Barber's number, the Giants defense is suspect, and it's a home game for which I know us fans are going to be huge factor.

AFC

1. Jets/Patriots:

My pick: Patriots

Why: A ton of experience in the playoffs...period.

2. Colts/Chiefs:

My pick: Chiefs

Why: The Colts can't stop the run, and the Chiefs have who...oh yeah...Larry Johnson.

GO SAINTS!!!

This year, by far, has been the most exciting for any Saints fan. It's so nice to see our team performing so well... I get goose bumps thinking about it :o :D

It's certainly been an uplifting experience for New Orleans and it could not have come at a better time.

My picks for the weekend are:

NFC

1. Seattle/Dallas: - Seattle

2. Philly/NY: - Philly

AFC

1. Jets/Patriots: - Patriots

2. Colts/Chiefs: - Colts

I agree. My hat goes off to Sean Payton (which clearly should be the coach of the year). I'm still amazed with the game plan he had when the Saints played the Cowboys.

G-MEN!!!!

GO BLUE!!!!

:woot: :getdown :woohoo: :getdown :woot:

We don't deserve it, I know, I know. God help Eli and that damn deer in the headlights look he has! If his last name was Smith he'd be holding a clipboard in Arizona.

On a side note, I won $750.00 in my fantasy football league!! Thank you Drew Brees and Steven Jackson!

Go hawks! I know we arent superbowl material this year but if we can atleast make it to the second round of the playoffs I'd be satisfied. This year has plagued the hawks with injury...lost a lot of momentum.

what the heck happened to the Giant this year? During the preseason, I thought for sure the Giants were guaranteed a superbowl contender.

Sooner the Cowboys are out, the sooner they can fire Parcells and his 1940's offense and get someone in there that can utilize their players better. They have too much talent to have limped into the playoffs with a 2-3 record in December.

New England Patirots! :D

I think we can all agree though that whoever makes it to the Super Bowl that the NFC team will get eaten alive by the AFC team. I can't believe the records of some of the NFC teams that made the playoffs. It just goes to show why the AFC has dominated for some time now.

If the Cowboys can't take advantage of Seattle's defensive backfield woes to win that game, I hope the "New Jersey Con Man" is fired before he can walk off of the field. We should win that game in spite of ourselves.

Hopefully next season we will be without both Parcells and T.O. (Terribly Overrated - is my favorite definition). Zimmer can then get the defense back on track, going back to the 4-3.

Being a Bears fan, I have to be realistic. While the team is decent defensively, the perennial question of QB rears its ugly head. Grossman is too predictable, forever inconsistent, nor is he mobile enough.

not all of us!

Us Eagles fans tried to warn Cowboy fans about T.O. Over on the Eagles message board, Cowboy fans were going on there in the beginning of the year gloating and bragging about having T.O., and we kept on saying the team will implode and/or go into disarray toward the end of the season....

Parcells + T.O. + T.O. basically with any team is like trying to mix kool-aid with salt.

Also, during the hot streak of Tony Romo, we kept on saying that he is going to come back down to earth because other teams are now going to have tape on him. He was hot because nobody really knew about the guy and his play.

Also, what in the world happened to that Dallas defense? Of course I'm happy the Eagles went in and beat them :D , but that defense doesn't look like it was.

Onto the Bears:

I could not be a Bears fan right now. After having a dominating season (basically due to the defense), the Bears are going into the playoffs with a huge percentage of not making the big one. I think they will either play the Seahawks or Cowboys in the playoff game and I think they can manage to win that, but, my guess is they will either be playing the Saints or Eagles in the Championship game, and those two teams have a very good shot at winning. However, there is a slim chance that whoever from the NFC that gets into the Super Bowl, (unless there is another team other than the Chargers playing), has a very good shot at winning.

Ahhh . . . I see your point. Allow me to re-phrase then . . . "I think we can all agree though that whoever makes it to the Super Bowl that the NFC team will get eaten alive by the AFC team. Those that don't believe this are simply kidding themselves." When was the last time the NFC won the Superbowl anyway? :D

ajbarnes, somehow the system ate my Dallas Cowboy state of the union response. I'll try to recreate later.

:chuckle: Yeah to find that occurence you would have to go all the way back....to 4 SBs ago where on 01/26/03 The TB Bucs ate up the Oakland Raiders 48-21. By my calculator that equals 27 points.

Lessee...

Pitt beat Sea 21-10 (11 points)

NE beat Phil 24-21 (3 points)

NE beat Car 32-29 (3 points)

TB beat Oak 48-21 (27 points)

NE beat StL 20-17 (3 points)

AFC has eked out some wins no doubt, but they aren't exactly eating anyone alive. 4 wins by a total of 20 points.

Granted it's been since SB XXXI (1/26/07) since the NFC put togethr a run, but that run went for 13 consecutive SBs. Care to discuss NFC vs AFC total SB victories?
