Introducing HD's New DA Polisher Kit!!!

sweet, can't wait to get one! can someone post a short video if it in action please?

p.s. nice to see 3D/HD expanding with more new exciting products, keep it up... :)

Good observation guys...so, is it forced rotation or not? So it wouldn't be comparable to the Griot's, but rather to the Flex? What's going on here...

Based on the pics of the unit itself I would say its not forced rotation, but if that's the case the wording on the packaging should be changed.

According to David Fermani, who was in the chatroom last night, the machine he tested was not a forced rotation. I know the package says otherwise but the pictures of the units in production don't look like forced rotation.

I've been contemplating buying a DA for a while, cuz doing a detail by hand is getting old! This looks like a promising package! Can't wait to visit my nearest Wallmart to get it (or via here ocourse).

I will like to know the difference between forced rotation DA and the Porter Cable???? I wonder what will be the price for the HD Polisher???

As said before, we had a good discussion about this new tool last night on the weekly Chat.

Can't recall of what was discussed, but do highly recommend that for those who wish to keep up on the latest things, they take part in the Thursday night chat.

About the tool-I have three dual action tools, but this one I find quite interesting and may invest in one.

Unlike most, I usually do heavy correction work with a rotary and then follow up with a dual action.

Makes the job go much quicker and less labor time is more profit, while producing a swirl free surface.

Grumpy

They told us when they came up last week it was a forced rotation, gets better results than a PC, and have no worries about burning the paint. It was way more powerful than my G110

Here's my thing, it would have to be stronger/better quality/same warranty as the Griot's, and preferably 25' cord, or else what's the point? If it's competing with just the Flex, then I'm not so concerned about it, I have no need of a Flex type forced rotation machine as I have several DA's and a rotary. I guess we have to wait until an HD employee chimes in.

BTW, anything is more powerful than a PC. The standard to compare to is the Griot's or the Flex, depending what type of DA it is.

I know the feeling. My elbows are literally shot. I've spent days trying to get my car rubbed out properly, and while it can be done by hand, it's really hard on my old joints. My car looks great now, but I've paid a heavy price. Now it's hard to get out of bed. :mad1:

Can someone explain the difference between forced rotation DA versus "regular" DA and a regular rotary ? Would a forced rotary type device replace both a DA and a rotary tool ?

I'll try but bear with me , I only went to the tenth grade. lol. 1. Regular da has what is known as a floating spindle assembly. As it spins in a circular direction it also randomly oscillates. The distance of the oscillation is what is called the stroke. 2.A forced rotation da usually has a gear driven backing plate that has a fixed action. With enough downward pressure a random style da can usually be forced to stop rotating where as a forced da can not. There you have it in what I think are simple laymens terms.Hope this helps a little.

Do a search on AG or Autopia--Mike Philips and Todd Helme both have published explanations.

The motor on the HD polisher (710 watt) is more powerful then the Porter Cable XP (500 watt) and Meguiar's G110v2 (430 watt). More then enough power to blow your buffing pads apart. :)

And I'll say this again........From my understanding of polishers, and from the 2 beta machines I personally used and despite what the pre-production flyer states, the new HD unit will not be forced rotation.
