I'm just not a "Winter" person....

Just wondering if it would be ok to use products like Klasse or Zaino on Awlgrip (US Paints "Two Component Linear Aliphatic Polyester Polyurethane"
paint). I’m helping refurbish/restore a Peterson 34’ and it was painted with Awlgrip. I’ve always known it was a no-no to use traditional waxes on Awlgrip because it attracts dirt and yellows (why, I'm not sure). I figure you must be able to protect it after you polish so I visited their website and the recommend their own polymer sealer. Just curious if there is good reason for this or just the usual “shampoo with brandX, followed by brandX conditioner type marketing. Sorry this so off topic but there’s a good chance there’s an expert (*cough Ron cough*) around

any and all input welcome
:)

The "paint" is a two part expoxy and you are correct!!

Use any quality polymer sealant on it you choose.

Any thing to sell product, and if they can increase the sales of something, why not.

Just would not recommend a pure wax product, but then to explain that would create "yawns" from some as to darned technical.

Go for it, big guy! You will be ok, wish I had my 43' Egg Harbor back so I could take my little "smoke pot" and blow on past you wind sailors on the way to the party spot!

Going to spend the last weekend of Sept. down in Puerto Rico on my distributor's 46' Viking sport fisherman.

Just old fossil fuel kinda guy.

Thanks for the info Ron. Have fun and tell us about the one that got away. Sounds like a good deal to me cuz there’s only one thing better than owning a boat, it’s knowing someone else that does! Never seen a Viking that big, the SF Bay Area doesn’t have too many big sport fishers but there’s lots of the smaller ones around here.

I'll give him $5,000 for the motor and he can keep the boat!!

Need that sucker for a kit Cobra I am planning on building.

:D

Actually I despise cold weather!!!!!

True, I choose to live here in KC. I'm retired, so I could move to Florida. But, this is where my dad chose to live, I grew up here, got a really good job here and never left.

My whole family is here... brother, 2 sisters, mom, 4 sons, my wifes whole family... Why don't I move? I don't want to move away from my boys.

But I still enjoy hating winter. [Enough steam blown off... I feel much better!]

P.S. I do kind of envy the "snow-lovers" even though they're wrong.:)

Glad you feel better now Bill. It is always good to vent, don't want to keep it in LOL. For you the plusses (family) far out-way the minus (winter). :)

Bill - you are still far enough south to no deal with some really bad winter weather like some folks in Minnesota or Boston area guys (yes you Rydawg and RickRack). I lived up there in the Nor'east and enjoy being back on warmer weather (not quite FL, but not bad).

Grungy

Good point! What if my family and my life were in Duluth?!!! :banghead::doh::banghead::doh::banghead:(the HORROR!!!!!)

Duluth wouldn't be as bad as dealing with our lovely Homeland Insecurity folks if you lived north of the border

Bill,

I feel your pain. I also HATE the winter and cold weather in general. I am so ready to leave NJ and move to a warm weather climate. I don't think, I could live in Florida, however. It's way to close to PAC, and I would probably go bankrupt if I lived anywhere near there.

I ablsolute HATE winter. I can't wait for spring. I would imagine though that the winter you experience in KC is nothing compared to the winter I experience up here in MA.

Maybe we have to start some type of layaway plan for you......:wizard:

I hate winter. I hate the cold. I hate the snow. I hate the short days.

Buffalo winters are miserable, everyone is cranky and there is not much to do but sit around inside.

I am no big fan of winter either!

This morning it was so cold the furnace kicked on AND there was dew all over the car :(

I had to wait until 10am until the grass had dried out enough to mow :toetap05:

If that's not bad enough the weather guy said it would be cloudy most of the week

Yuk!
