Is the forum really changing?

Are there a lot of 'old timers' disappearing or hiding out?

How many new guys are showing up? etc? etc?

Just a check up on membership status of the forum....

Feel free to leave comments as well.

(PS: I know it says when we joined under our profile, but this is a better way of simplifying and putting it all in one place.)

I have to post to see when I joined.... I think it says that in the post :)

yep.... May of 2004, ho9w time flies when you are having fun learning about detailing.:waxing:

<-- 7 years.

And yes, the forum is changing. It's ever evolving and most of the folks from my 'era' are gone with a few exceptions.

Not as long as I would have liked to. I've spent hours reading through the archives. If you consider the mentality of the discussions early on, yes, they have changed quite a bit (for the best in alot of ways). I really wish many of the old members would return. It's a shame that people with 2000 or more posts just drop off the face of the earth after spending so much time here. This is the only detail forum that allows so much freedom and information to be discussed. I wish there was a way to reach out to some of the old members for an invitation back.

Most of the members that have left have no intentions of coming back. Your sign on date is right around the time when things hit the fan so you might remember some of it. Though those posts have long been purged from the forum.

I guess I missed D-Day :nixweiss. Can you elaborate........

Considering many (old members) have been banned or run off in one way or another, it would be difficult for them to...

I have been on the forum since '01-02 timeframe, under another (inactive) screen name...and, yes, the forum has changed considerably since then. I consider many of the discussions/members back then quite interesting....

Seemed like DavidB got rid of a lot of angry members a while back. Most of them I don't miss. I know a lot of them hated my guts, for some reason, posting pictures was a horrible thing I was doing. Imagine that, pictures on a detailing website.

When I first joined nearly 7 years ago, it seemed like main discussion was the virtues of Klasse vs Zaino. Once the board opened up more to other product lines, I think Autopia got a lot better and much less cliquish.

For me it has been 1 year and 3 months...I have learned so much and appreciate the help and expertise of the older :tumblewee...... I mean "experienced" members..

coming up on 2 years in August. I know 2 years isn't a lot especially to the ones that have been here much longer but it sure as hell doesn't seem like its been 2 years.

Bump......

(...just in case anyone else wants to elaborate on the dynamics/vibe/environment of the forum back near the beginning. More history if you will.)

Been on since late 01 early 02 under another name, I forgot that name so started a new account. But Autopia has changed a lot from what I remember of it.

I have been a lurker for quite some time and just recently (as my post count will attest to) and have just recently began to post. Usually I am just here to check out the Click n Brag section to see others work. I havn't really seen any of the forum social dynamics.

Great forum.

Lurked around since I found this site in 2003 I believe and decided to start posting 2 years later. Things have definitely changed, some for better, some for worse.

I was here lurking for a number of months before creating an account.

<--------------Join Date One Grand Blitz Wax was all the rage. Discussions (arguments) were more in depth, academic and nerdy whereas today it is more of a WalMart type atmosphere.
