I have been here for almost 8 years. It's amazing how the products used have changed. I still remember the good old days when S100 was king and the go to combo was Megs #81 and S100...Ah memories :)

Seems like yesterday, but it was about 9 months ago. I believe I lurked for a good number of months before I actually joined.

I've been a member for a little over 5 years now.

I haven't been on lately as I have gotten pretty busy with the detailing business, and with a new business I started back in the winter.

I remember when I first joined, this place was like a soap opera!

Not sure why you say that...were you on Autopia when he use to post?
I don't think "boffin" and "plagiarist" have become synonyms . . . he was banned for repeatedly plagiarizing other websites and presenting the information as his own.

I was the 9th member to join this forum. Wow, where does the time go.....

I have to agree with Pat, it's amazing how much the board has grown in the past 8 years, and even more amazing how much the products have improved.

I wonder if the forum dynamics have changed since internet "forums" in general were a relatively new concept 7 years ago. When forums first came out, it may have been used to boost egos and hide and abuse the system.

I feel drama can get old and tiresome real fast, but this site has such a great wealth of pros/tips/and intelligent exchanges that it holds up great.

You took the words out of my mouth! He sounded more like an automaton or a Vulcan than a human. He's on a couple other detailing boards.

I never realized that's why he was banned, but I'm glad. His posts used to drive me nuts because of that.

Do you miss something like this?

Blocking: blocked user may have certain privileges revoked, such as the ability to publish content or communicate with other users, or they may be completely unable to access the service in question. Blocks can apply to individual user accounts or ranges of IP addresses. In most cases, individual services and websites set their own blocking policies, and a block issued by one will not apply on any others.

Most online communication tools, including chat software and social networking sites, allow users to block other users from contacting them. Such a block normally has no effect on the subject's access to any other part of the service.

Plagiarism is the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work

Within academia, plagiarism by students, professors, or researchers is considered academic dishonesty or academic fraud and offenders are subject to academic censure. In journalism, plagiarism is considered a breach of journalistic ethics, and reporters caught plagiarizing typically face disciplinary measures ranging from suspension to termination. Some individuals caught plagiarizing in academic or journalistic contexts claim that they plagiarized unintentionally, by failing to include quotations or give the appropriate citation. While plagiarism in scholarship and journalism has a centuries-old history, the development of the Internet, where articles appear as electronic text, has made the physical act of copying the work of others much easier, simply by copying and pasting text from one web page to another.

Plagiarism is not copyright infringement. While both terms may apply to a particular act, they are different transgressions. Copyright infringement is a violation of the rights of a copyright holder, when material protected by copyright is used without consent. On the other hand, plagiarism is concerned with the unearned increment to the plagiarizing author's reputation that is achieved through false claims of authorship.

I got #9 by sorting the current member list by join date......I guess we had some people leave! For the record, I was a member of Autopia on the old board before the upgrade to Vbulletin, in which we all had to rejoin. I believe the first 10-20 of us(the main crew on the old board) re-joined in the first few days after the upgrade

I'm not sure how to reconile my listed Join Date with how I long I've been posting here...but eh..no matter.

I was lurking here back before moving to our current house (that'd be well before the year 2000) and I recall when the hot ticket was Blitz Wax over 3M IHG with just a very few folks (hey, DETAILKING :wavey ) being into Zaino at the time.

I recall some, uh..other stuff too; nah, IMO this place hasn't changed all that much, but the civility/etc. does wax and wane a bit. And it *is* a shame certain people are no longer posting here for one reason or another.

Hmmmm, I remember the good ole days or should I say days.

Long time lurker, a few posts but still here.

Hey, I still have 2 cans of Blitz and 2 jars of un-opened Pinnacle Paste Glaz in perfect condition. Since its a collectors item now, maybe I should sell it on eBay.

Cheers!

Been lurking since 2000, on since 2004. The fourm has changed in both good and bad ways, alot more people on here now. I miss G35Stilez, Picus, and BlueCLS. Scott and tdkaney are still here though! And cant forget Accumulator.
