Hey, I still have 2 cans of Blitz and 2 jars of un-opened Pinnacle Paste Glaz in perfect condition. Since its a collectors item now, maybe I should sell it on eBay.

I still have numerous bottles of Pinnacle's *Creme Glaz*, seems nobody even remembers that stuff.

A lot of new stuff has come out in the years and there always seems to be the bandwagon of the month (who doesnt like trying different products) but there seems to be a few constants like Klasse, Zaino, Souveran. I guess they stood the test of time. Of course Meguiars has been around for a hundred and I still top Klasse with Blitz.

Discussions (arguments) were more in depth, academic and nerdy whereas today it is more of a WalMart type atmosphere.

I'll second that. I've been here for a while myself though took some time off. I do believe I'm coming back though.

Is the forum really changing?

Are there a lot of 'old timers' disappearing or hiding out?

How many new guys are showing up? etc? etc?

Just a check up on membership status of the forum....

Feel free to leave comments as well.

(PS: I know it says when we joined under our profile, but this is a better way of simplifying and putting it all in one place.)

It really has changed over time.

Some old, some new.

Or how about the blue Pinnacle Koala cotton towels from CMA?

That's an oldie, long before the microfiber craze. I still have some. Great for #7 removal.

I believe I joined in 2004. I don't post as much as I once did but I read the threads of the day quite often.

I miss some of the banter but do not miss the extra drama that occured with unwarranted personal attacks.

It seems like the drama and personal attacks come and go. It's too bad that good detailers can get caught up in it, it can cost us some valuable members :(

Yeah, I think mine still have the paper band around them :D Got some tiny little cotton ones from Emmon's Coachworks too, one of which has been in the XJS's console since the mid-late '80s.

Heh heh, some day I oughta do a period-correct detail on the Jag or the RX-7, using all stuff from the early '80s. Not like they wouldn't turn out just fine without any of today's wonder-stuff.

Heh heh#2, I was kinda surprised that Pats300zx had some of the Creme Glaz!

No its not. Thats a reason why a lot of old timers have left.

It would be great if you could elaborate.....

What old timers are you speaking of and what forums are they on?

I'm not getting in to it. You have been here as long as I have and probably know it doesn't take much to get banned here. I will say that I don't read or post much anymore so maybe the forum is more *free* and I haven't noticed.

I would disagree. I love Autopia because I feel free to post whatever I wish. I don't feel the same way on any other forum.

The thing is, spam isn't really tolerated very well so if you're trying to sell something without a sponsorship, it's not going to work out well. That's why Paul Dalton was banned. That's why Octaneguy was banned. That's why justin30513 was banned.

Maybe I'm blind to the underground actively here? There's a big difference between spamming and posting freely. When has anyone been refrained from discussing topics/subjects/products in a subjective way? There's been several "established" members that have been banned or called out for blatant spamming, but what board allows that to occur?

Why spend the effort of bringing something up, but not taking the initiative to explain yourself so everyone can understand? I don't see the point.

So Supe and Todd were banned (albeit temporarily) for quoting a DIRECT quote from Jeff Silver, why? Jeff said it! They didn't falsify what he said. As a result of this SuperBee has chosen to no longer participate here. Todd still does, I think.. but I think he does so begrudgingly.

I'm not in a position to question why or why not but perhaps this has something to do with it?

What I find most disturbing about this thread is that some (one or more) of the people involved have financial interest in other products. The moderators and I generally discover that those people fighting the hardest (our loudest) have a personal interest of one sort or another.

It's fine if the thread was locked because of Jeff Silver's financial interests, or Menzernas. Supe and Todd don't have any financial stake in Menzerna. So that's not exactly the answer I was looking for.

I don't believe David was referring to Jeff Silver.
