How do you *trash* a product that you've never tried??

No one on this site has EVER bashed the other website or the product or products they prefer to use. :faint:

Who really cares? Compare away... Zaino vs NXT, Zaino vs Ultima, Zaino vs the flavor of next week. In 6 months, some other marketing campaign will boast to be better than Zaima or Ultino... and is will be soaked up like a biscuit in gravy.

You guys really haven't caught on to the fact that it's not about the product... used it or not used it... it's more about the marketing of the product. Just don't glance over the posts over there... actually read them and you will understand.

DA

Oh really??? Well since you maturity level is so high over there perhaps you can explain why I was banned on your site. I don't even post over there. I mostly visited your site because I used Zaino and was interested in your discussion on the product line. Yes..I do like Zaino.

You guys are class acts in my book...:up

Keep up the good work.

Yeah, well since you have to register to read, I'll pass. I know I am not welcome there.

Personally, I am more intersted what is in the bottle than the name on it. I also probably use a wider range of products than almost anyone else here and all the products I use have their place. My 3 favorite product lines are Optimum, Clearkote and Werkstatt but I also use Meguiars, Zaino, Poorboy's, Ultima, Duragloss, Pinnacle, Menzerna, 1Z and Detailer's Pride. Use what I use, fine. Use something else, fine. I really don't care as long as I get the results I want.

I don't get being so obnoxiously devoted to a single product line as some people are to Zaino. Honestly, when some people here post, I feel as though the guys in the white shirts and black ties are riding up on their bikes or some new Amway guy is going to talk to me about a new business opportunity.

Did I ever say that?

I never said no one bashed the website.

What I said was, you don't see people over here bashing products that they haven't even tryed. Not so with that site.

What if I started a thread over here that said "Zaino quote of the day", talked all the sh!t I could about it even though I have never used it, and posted a bunch of immature silly pictures and "BS meters" on it.

It's all about the marketing... most of us have seen this before with NXT.

While I may not agree with the marketing strategies of certian companies (wax or otherwise), I think it's only fair (two sides to every coin) to discuss marketing tactics of Zaino's. It's very very clever really, almost genius, but so simple. With no formal marketing program, all you really have to do is hook a few guys on internet forums who are really into the products, then form a 'buddy buddy" relationship with them and call them with the "inside scoop" on every product known to man so they are the annointed "informed ones" on the big ole internet, make them "beta testers", and a few other nice tricks, and what do you get? Presto! A group of guys so dedicated to a singular product they are like rabid dogs if anything is said negative, any comparisons are made against Z, or anything that contradicts the "official" Z opinion from on high. Why is that marketing strategy not discussed in detail? Well, let's see...first and foremost, every single one of them would lose every shred of credibility they so long for.

My question is this....there are crummy marketing schemes used every single day across every single industry. Why not go after them all guys? I know it's all in the interest of preventing "misinformation" right? Unless there is some sort of vested interest in the product you're so rabidly defending, why care so much what competitor B says about competitor A??? I know I could care less. I give people the benefit of the doubt most of the time in that they are able to think for themselves and make intelligent opinions on the information they receive. Why not go after Billy Mays every time he's got a new one on TV?

I drive an Infiniti. So what. BMW may say punishing things about Infiniti every day in ad campaigns, and I really couldn't care less, because I'm happy with what I have. I would probably care a LOT more though if I had something to gain from Infiniti as a company though!

Bottom line, all the drama over car wax is actually quite comical, in my opinion. It is car wax folks. Sometimes detailing forums feel more like another episode of Days of Our Lives, than an informal, laid back chat about car wax. In the grand scheme of the world, car wax is meaningless anyhow. So wax competitor B says something crappy about wax A...so what! Guess what? 99.9999% of the US population doesn't give a crap. So, how about take up a worthy cause and prevent "misinformation" about something that at least some minute percentage of American's might actually care about? How about giving some of that rabid-ness to the Fair Tax supporters? At least that's something that would truly benefit someone and change society for the better. (IMO at least)

WoW, someone knocking Sal for actually testing his products. Most products aren't formulated by the seller and rarely(if at all) tested. People get suckered into the latest "flavor of the month club" and waste a lot of money. Marketing is part of business. Doing so ethically is challenging. It's always best for ones reputation to take the high road. Maybe that's what they perceive the issue to be. Most of those guys can't post here so we won't ever know their side of the issue.

So you are 100% sure that other car care companies don't partake in this same marketing approach that you seem to know so much about? :sosad

I am 100% sure that I don't care what other car care companies do, because I can think for myself, test products for myself, and come to conclusions for myself, instead of having other people's conclusions shoved down my throat. I am pretty sure I am more than fully capable of deciding whether to spend my money with a particular company or not. What's "so sad" is that the other camp doesn't divulge their own interests in a discussion of this sort. I know, it's always what the "other party" is doing to your brand, right? Instead of playing that fiddle, you can cry me a river.

I figure if I find something that works very well stick with it. I went the werkstatt route and found it to be a very nice product. But I prefer the look of Z5pro on darks over AJ.

Scott, I know you ride a bike alot, but please tell me you don't own a white shirt and black tie. :xyxthumbs That is some scary stuff man. :nervous2:

Whatever makes you happy my friend. I mean you just wrote a three paragraph synopsis on the marketing approach of a car care company, but now you don't care what they do? :spit:

There isn't anything wrong with people using cheap bulk chemicals. Everyone can use what they prefer. I think this is an issue where everyone needs to cool down, re-read posts and arrive at their own decisions.

You're bent out of shape at marketing? Do you hear BMW crying cause KIA says that their much less expensive SUV is faster than an X5?? It's flattery that someone comes at you with the claim of being better. They consider you the benchmark. Isn't that a compliment? At the same time there is also free advertisement created for you.

Very interesting and nice point:goodjob

What exactly is the point of this thread anymore? As I go through the last few pages of total useless crap it just screams to me little kids wanting to argue over the internet. None of you guys are saying anything different than what was said on the first page. Why is this thread still going?

The original question was "how can people bash a product they've never used before?" The answer is because simple minded people get stuck in an ego trip and refuse to let things go... Kind of like this thread... beating a dead horse here guys.

Neither of you would want to deal with my VTEC charged 1.8 liter DOHC GS-R! It owns you all!

GS-R HA! D16 SOHC sitting at 272WHP :) .60 trim t3/t04e.

And that's only at 10psi peak to 11psi. Can't wait to kick it up to 15-18psi:scared:

I wouldn't mind a b18 tho :chuckle:
