FK425 is awesome!

So is #425 more of a QD or more like AW?

fk425 is a QD and can be used weekly, whereas AW is a spray sealant and shouldn't be used every week, and more like every few or so...

mose, it is entirely possible! :D

jgatuslao, the fix is to spray the 425 on your towel and apply it that way. Luckily, the 425 is not that sensible when it comes to compatibility issues. See if your spray-onto-towel application works, or what happens when you change LSP under the 425.

Bence, I will try it although it would probably be more work. I just don't understand why it does that to black and not to red. I use the same LSP's for both vehicles. I'm just disappointed because I have a gallon and it looks great on my red. I'm sure it would for my black except for the streaks and blotches. Other than using it on my red, I just use it for glass, aluminum trimmings and the interior.

Did anyone else notice this thread was from Jan. 06'

Props to however searched and posted. That is what should be done.

Funny how the conversation just picks-up like a new thread.

FK 425 certainly is a terrific QD and if I didn't have what I do now, I would still be using it

I did notice good anti static performance and an improvement in slickness and looks

However AW, FC&S and the other two (USA and Aussie) do what 425 does and has other uses besides spray and wipe with a towel and not just paint but interiors, metals, chrome, swirl hiding for show day final prep.

It has got the best smell of any QD though. Wins that hands down.

Kinda not understanding you , you prefer the 425 or the AW & FC&S. Which one can you use on int.

jgatuslao, I don't think it's more work. Just one trigger pull onto the towel from the regular bottle, or 2-3 pumps from the sampler bottle and one panel is covered.

Well I really love FC&S. Terrific smell, diluteable and works terrific on its own or mixed 50/50 with AW

To me quick detailers should not only remove dust etc but add to the finish and leave behind plenty of sealant and restore the slickness completely, regardless of the paint condition

I have the QD's to do that.

The aussie one I use on interiors. an even longer lasting one is being formulated now for beta testing. might last more than six months this time.

I'm probably the only one who's not satisfied with FK425 on my black Lexus. I have a gallon and I just use it for my red Yukon which looks great. However, on my black car, the QD is blotchy and streaky. Unlike other QD's I have (DG 521 an FC&S, Megs UQD and Megs FI), I have to do a lot of wiping to get the FK425 to spread evenly and remove streaks.

I use DG105 as my sealant and top it with Natty's Blue. Anyone else have this problem with FK425, especially on black?

I've not experienced such issues on black, not even once. By wiping very rapidly it just disappears in seconds. Did applying it to the towel cure the problem?

Is it possible its because Lexus black is single stage? I wonder if it soaks up to quickly on this type of paint. Hmmmm.

How does 425 compare to Clearkote's Quick Shine?

This is an *utterly* subjective/as-memory-serves take, but IMO the FK425 not only leaves things slicker and more static-resistant,but it also improves the look a little bit, which I never noticed with the Quick Shine.

The FK425 seems to leave more stuff behind, and it's better stuff too.

That "as-memory-serves" qualifier is because I simply never use my Quick Shine any more, it just sits on the shelf while I use stuff like FK425 instead.

Also has a polymer in it and I think it improves the look a lot.

That makes sense...whatever it leaves behind is more polymer-looking than the carnauba in some other QDs; it's more like QDs for/from products like BF/UPP/etc.

Even so it gives a deeper wetter look , I personally do not like carnuba QD's , since there is so little carnuba in them , it usually does not last long at all , plus usually has pretty good dust attraction.

Oh-oh, here's another product I have to try! Thanks for the feedback.

One product in that category that I *do* like is Griot's SpeedShine. It leaves a pretty remarkable amount of wax behind and I've not noticed any dust attraction/retention issues. It's the one leaves-stuff-behind QD that I reach for as often as FK425.

I ordered a gallon, got it here yesterday and tried it out on my Tundra. I had washed it on Sunday, it rained here on Monday but just enough to jack up the paint. So I went home, sprayed the FK425 on and really liked the way it seemes to cover the paint. It didn't feel all watery like Megs QD and seemes to leave a coat of protection on the paint. Only time will tell about the dust repellent though. I will post more at the end of the week!
