just an FYI - carrying while drinking is a big no-no. The gun doesn't know if you are drinking or not, so it can't take itself out of it's holster. The person carrying is responsible for doing that.

I also would like my daughter to be able to protect herself. Non-leathal weapons are an answer.

Troy -

I have been blasted by OC pepper spray and Freeze plus P pepper spray as well. I could have fought through both.

Now a taser gun on the other hand - it worked. For five seconds. As soon as it quit shocking I could have got up and went at it again.

Just sayin' from experience.

Bottle or hand gun are all the same in this case...you use one in a non-responsible its likely that you will abuse them both.

Stupidity comes in all ages, races, sexes, and places. Again, this goes back to people wanting to blame the gun instead of the person.

Your right and in the hands of a college kid who is blasted on booze from some party..decides that some drunken remark offens him...pulls out his self defence and kills?

Just because its a no-no doesn't mean it won't happen...in fact if carrying on campus was legal it would increase the likely hood of it happening

Just speaking of college campus...those are learning institutions not places that our young adults should be carrying weapons to protect themselves...if that is the case then the answer is in better protection for them.

By your logic then, I shouldn't ever get in my car, fly in an airplane, etc. etc. Just because something could happen, you shouldn't do it right? It's not that I don't respect your opinion and think you have your entitlement to it, I just can't understand that type of logic.

Violence and crime does not restrict itself from college campuses, hospitals, places of work, etc. You are right - having a gun around does increase the likelihood of having to use it. Just like if the bad guys knew everyone was armed would most likely cut down on crime. Bad guys look for victims, not evenly matched opponents.

Csn you link me to the studies from which this conclusion was based?

Sure, as soon as you can link me to studies that show where all these folks at college parties are getting drunk and whipping out guns at offhand remarks.

It goes both ways. That was the point I was trying to make. Anyone can twist any statistic and study to suit their argument.

I do mean the part about bad guys and a level playing field though. The more you present yourself as a defenseless victim, I truly believe the more you open yourself up to becoming a victim. No scientific proof cited, although I really don't think you'd need any.

That was my remark not his...the reason you don't see many of these stories..is its still illegal to have guns on campus

And there's lots of student organizations actively working to get that restriction lifted and removed. You can do the legwork yourself, but I can think of three or four links I've seen just this week that reported that exact thing.

/I think I am getting my own post off the original topic. We'll be okay as long as Bart doesn't log in. :D Hahahaha!

Pretty easy to get off track with this one...and God help us BB logs in:D

I don't carry yet but support the right too. I do sleep very well though (no kids)

Why do you say that Beemerboy????
Someone needs to inject a little common sense into this thread.
George Bush will regulate shoes very soon.
I think people should have a back ground check before being allowed to wear shoes.

Shoes should not be worn in public places without proper training.:gotcha:

Yea its easier to dodge a shoe....don't think GW would have had the same out come...if the shoe thrower had a hand gun.:gotcha:

Your comparing apples and oranges..with shoes and guns...where you are not? is the right to defend what you believe in or yourself...the choice of weapon you use will determine the out come...in the case of a gun...I think you know the outcome of that:gotcha:

Yep I know the outcome, I go home and some scumbag goes to the morgue.

Perhaps?

Or you are arrested for using deadly force with out due cause....

Some one throws his shoe at you...you in turn pull out your hand gun and kill them...or injure them for life over it....perfect:huh:

I have had a CWP for 55 years.
Still waiting for your prediction to come true.
You sound like you think everyone who carries is a complete Idiot.
Do you really think I don't know when deadly force is justified.

Your scenario is beyond ridiculous to think I would shoot someone that threw a shoe at me.
I have had a group of scumbags try to rob me before.

Now keep in mind I'm talking a real life situation not something you dream up.
I stopped the attack and NO one was harmed.
If I was a bleeding heart Liberal like your self I would have been beaten and robbed.
that is not going to happen to me.

I know that if I use my weapon it will be justified but I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6

My answer was based off your reply to my statement above...Bart

I will not resort to calling you names...I suspect you can do the same...we have different views on this...and I'm good with it...I also enjoy the debate over it....breaks up the boredom...however I do not take this personally and will not resort to calling you names...show me the same respect!
