I live 65 miles from Indianapolis and it was on the local new a few days ago a similar thing happened.
This guy came into a convenience store and tried to rob it.
The clerk pulled a gun and shot the scumbag dead in his tracks.
IPD said NO charges will be filed.

This happened about 10 minutes from my home. Kudos to the store owner. I only wish he'd gotten both guys instead of just one. How's that for Christmas spirit?

I'd deny/drop the charges and let them go home.

FWIW, the clerk in Anniston was in a wheelchair and has no legs. I'd say the one thief got what he deserved and the one that "got away" must have had someone looking out for him that morning.
