Do you think PBMG pays forum members to plug their products?

I know for sure several years ago AG had a young detailer with a bright yellow small pickup truck I think from Tennessee that was outed when he told another forum member and that forum member posted about it. There was quite a ruckus on the forums about it when everything played out AG pretty much shunned him. I suspect PBMG still has respected detailers hyping products on the forums.

Things sure have changed since those days! Shilling used to be *the* thing companies used to do to get their product`s name out. So many people (besides Justin) got called out for this too. Now, with AG carrying most of the popular brands, it`s taken on a whole nother realm called "product support" where people like me who represent a certain company can openly promote and support the brand we`re affiliated with. Speaking of which, I think 3D/HD did things a little differently with all the free product-for-reviews we used to openly offer. It sure did help get the name out though! :chairdance

New rinselss wash I M totally loving is waterless wipe by limitless car care. Totally smells great, cleans well without marring and leave a clean surface that shows off your hard work.

I purchased the towels and got a small sample. Well I already purchased more towels and have 2x32 oz of the waterless wipe on the way to me. Also ordered some shampoo and Apc to try. Price was right with the crazy sale they were running.

Definitely another winner. Now I`m gonna have to get a gallon. I think it`s a bit slicker than the other Waterless I`ve used.

If it wasn`t for this, I would probably never have tried the line.
same here. I got a nice PA gift pack in the secret Santa last year and loved it. never would`ve tried it otherwise

O.P. definitely came off as a bit of an unnecessary shot at Ron, but to answer the question.....

While it is I suppose possible, I can`t say that I`ve gotten the vibe of people on here getting paid directly to hype product. I don`t visit AG nearly as much, so I can`t speak much for that site.

As far as product giveaways, I`ve won a couple in exchange for reviews. I wouldn`t hesitate to trash a product if it`s junk. The only way a company can improve their products is to be told what issues there are with it. I don`t know.....I think there`s too many regulars here that pay enough attention and would be able to easily spot somebody that was a true shill for a company.

As big as Autopia is, I feel like the regulars are a tight enough group that there`s mainly pure honest discussion going around

Just so everyone knows other than the items I`ve been given to review I have never received a dime to review a product. A free product is not enough for me to compromise my values and tell you fine people it`s something it`s not. Over the years I spent a fortune with Autopia , Autogrek, Detailer’s Domain, Optimum, Esoteric, detailed image, Poorboys , Carpro, Polish Angel and lately Limitless. It`s a hobby to me and I was turned onto many of these products by people on this forum.

If you read my reviews of items I paid for and items I have reviewed that were given to me I have been 100 percent true to what I felt about the product. You can disagree or agree with me but it`s how I felt the product worked on its own merit. Me getting paid to shill a product is funny. Sometime when I get my credit card bill I only wish I could offset the expense with some directly related income. All I have to show for all the products is a sore back and a decent looking fleet of vehicles.

Since he got called out, I can tell you Ron is in the same boat as me. We spend slit of time talking about what works well for us. I trust his opinion 100%. I know Ron since 2009 and he has tried almost everything under the sun. He is an encyclopedia of detailing knowledge. For yo young guys who are saying what`s and encyclopedia google it ;)

Have a good day. Btw it`s raining on my clean car as I type this post ;(

Thanks Jeff !

Maybe we need to start adding disclaimers whether we are sponsored or not to our reviews, show n shines, and product endorsement post. That way it could clarify any speculation, or as some have post packing list showing payment for our stash.

By the way I found a new oil that protect against everything from cancer to protecting paint from collisions. Paint correction is a thing of the past. You can wash your car with gravel without worries. It is 49.99 plus s+h, and if you act in the next 30 min I will throw in another bottle absolutely FREE! Did I mention it makes everything Shine like show chrome!

This was an interesting thread to come back to after a mini-vacation. I`m glad it was resolved quickly since PBMG does not pay forum members to plug products.

I do this for any reviews or how-to`s on reddit.com/r/autodetailing. I add a disclaimer just to let everyone know I work for Autopia. Every review I`ve posted (and haven`t posted) has been 100% honest, but I don`t want to give anyone the wrong impression so I just come out and make sure everyone knows I work for Autopia.

Example: Volkswagen CC Hologram/Deep Scratch Removal with 3D AAT - Album on Imgur

So do I ask for an apology, since it sounds like a commission check is not gonna happen ?!?!?!?!

Boy I wished auto-connect was handle this quickly. Who handle the questions ????? Certain posts get answered.

There was a time that I did add a disclaimer on to each of my reviews in which I didn`t buy the product directly.

The last announcement is still true, once there`s more information to give out; we`ll give it out - there just hasn`t been anything helpful to give out. I can say there have been a lot of technical delays for programs we`re programming on at Autopia and you won`t see anything new until after the holidays. The programming is complicated since it uses a lot of different and new systems, so coming out and giving everyone a speculative release date wouldn`t help. So for now I think it`s best just to consider the old Connect as a 1 year membership with no current replacement.

I`ve seen that from a lot of people. They say "I received these products from X giveaway..." or "X company sent me this for testing" which is nice.

I will say I love all the reviews and like always take any review with a grain of salt. Every review has its up side and down side. Reviews from the highly regarded guys on here give me a very good understanding of a product and how good it is in comparison to other products but downside is when they say its easy to use I have to say yeah for them but i`m a novice will it be that easy for me. For the other novices on here that review products I question their broad product knowledge for comparison but value there opinion on how easy it will be to use a product for a novice.

As for the giveaways in return for reviews, you have to read between the lines a bit. No one is going to out right bash a product they got for free. But if they say it was a bit difficult to apply or remove or looks about the same as product X or whatever slight caveat the apply to it usually means the have other products in the same category they would use and wont buy that test product them self. I still love these reviews you just have to know how to read them.

I my self stopped entering those giveaways asking for a review in return as early on I did win one and I did do a review but it took me forever to get around to doing it. (I detail as a hobby and I work 60 hours a week and fish on Sundays so little time for through detailing) I tend not to fully follow the directions to save time and that also is unfair to the product. I feel they are not getting a fair return on the free product. I do still enter the just plain free giveaways and I do share my opinion on those products and any products I have of my own. I like to share how they work for me and how I like them on the forum in others threads, either someone asking for opinion`s or adding my .02 cents in someone else review thread.

Hey vega. I said I have not been paid. I want to be clear. If you and the sonar boys want to start paying me I`ll take it. I`ll just have to tell everyone I`m now a 1099 employee :)
