Do you think PBMG pays forum members to plug their products?

I know for sure several years ago AG had a young detailer with a bright yellow small pickup truck I think from Tennessee that was outed when he told another forum member and that forum member posted about it. There was quite a ruckus on the forums about it when everything played out AG pretty much shunned him. I suspect PBMG still has respected detailers hyping products on the forums.

When?

Sooner or later I`m gonna get some PA products thanks to those two American Muscle Car owners that keep making me jealous showing their high gloss finishes. (and to anyone else that reviewed it I may have failed to mention)
AND if it wasn`t for that guy that pushes the FK1000P I`de still be looking for a topper for my everyday drivers. The stuff amazes me every time i use it.

Keep those reviews coming..that`s what gets me trying new things.
Thank you for all Autopian`s that do the reviews making it easier to decide on what to buy.
I personally appreciate it!!!!

+1. Most of the reviews are spot on. I just picked up PB Spray & Wipe here during black friday based on some posts I saw here. Didnt need a new WW (have half a dozen already). Its now my new favorite.

they don`t say beauty is in the eye of the beholder for nothing....

but some things are better seen in person

I`d welcome any doubter to come south here and check out this shine for themselves - but don`t forget your sunglasses.

I would also introduce their eyes to the 6 different coating and topper combo`s on my perfectly prepped truck and their visual and performance differences as well.

Several years ago, I don`t remember the dates. I never said I thought you were one of them Ron that is on the payroll to hype products, or anything of the like. I don`t post a lot but have been on the forums a long time. Yes his name is Justin! I don`t know if he posts here or AG anymore, but I can tell you he was all buddy buddy with the AG folks and they pretty much distanced themselves from him when ```` went down.

Scottwax was posting reviews often back then on Autopia, but he was upfront with everyone that he tested products for Megs, and a couple of other company`s . It wasn`t the same as what the other young fellow was doing, Justin was hyping product! I suspect there were others but they kept their mouth shut. Some of the guys that have been around along time on these forums should be able to chime in.

Hey don`t be naive, it happens! Hype sells, it`s not against the law. Just use your own judgement to decide.

NO. I never got reimbursed for anything on this forum. Only the contests I was lucky enough to win. And I am very greatfull for that. To me it has always been a great and fair place to share our detailing passion and pass along product infromation on products that stand out or do make the cut.

BUT.......I am still waiting for RONKH to send me my xmas present of PA HIGH GLOSS...

Yes it is a dig.

I give my honest opinions of products, finished.

Great googley moogley! I hope you are charging your customers accordingly:) A wash and spray wax with PA should cost a customer no less than a $75-100

It took me some time to think through this and how to be nice and politically correct while also being honest. I thought I would give my own past experience with this since I think I understand where the OP is coming from.

Back when I started on AG (2009) and getting into detailing in general. I was really excited and into learning everything I could while trying new products and find the "best" options. I quickly learned about the giveaway raffles and was lucky enough to win one. I had also noticed that many people won stuff but never followed through on the review part of the giveaway. So I made sure to do a review to the best of my ability. Since I was buying new products I started doing more reviews and start liking what I was doing and they got better as I went along. (I think). As I did more and more reviews I was lucky to win a few more giveaways and then later I was asked to do some testing/reviews on new products.

This is where I want to make it clear that I was never paid to give a good review or hype a product. But I have come to realize that when you are being given free products you are more likely to like the stuff and give it a good review. But that is also easy to do when the products are good and I have found that PBMG really dos the work to come out with good products and carry only the best.

One of my standards from the beginning that I was going to give an honest and truthful review. It didn`t matter if the product was free or one that I bought. When your always doing glowing reviews and basicly buying ti to the next best product the vendors love you. But when you are honest and have to call out issues with products then there can be some issues. This has come to bite me as I have given some honest reviews and pointed out issues on products and thus manufacturers and reps didn`t like what I had to say publicly and privately. When you are potential for giving a bad review any possible freebies kinda disappear. But I will say that vendors that want and desire all feedback respect the honest feedback.

As I grew in my experience and my stash grew as well I had more than enough products to continue doing reviews with no need for free stuff. In the past few years I have found what works and have stopped buying into the latest stuff. But when you use the same stuff all the time you don`t really need to do a review as you most likely already did one. I would love to get the new stuff but that also gets expensive and I just don`t have the money for it all the time. But I do respect these guys that can continue to do it as they are the ones that really know if the new stuff is any better than the old stuff.

Sorry for the long ramble. I guess it comes down to this. Do they pay guys to do hype and reviews? I doubt it. Is the giveaways their way of generating hype and talk? Yes. I also think it`s possible some get better discounts weather that`s "connect" or possibly a special code. But in my option it doesn`t matter. That`s how businesses generate revenue and sell product and that`s what their in business to do.

I see where the op is coming from because sometimes it looks as if the same members win those giveaways. It`s more to do with luck. I am sure Nick or Ray have their favorites so to speak on who can write a good review and who comes through with actually writing one. It definitely helps boost a products sales regardless if it is a PBMG product or not.

But like others, I have purchased a lot of products and figure why not review them. It only helps those that are looking for a particular product.

Ray and Nick where`s my money.....

Respect what Troy has posted, that said, I think the important point that Ron was trying to make sure others understood is that he`s paying for the product. There is a huge difference between these two scenarios. Furthermore to my knowledge Ron doesn`t charge customers to detail their cars. He helps some of his show buddies and takes care of family and friends but he doesn`t do this for the money. Obviously he ends up with a lot of product on hand. I believe there are many lucky beneficieries of Ron`s "EXTRA" products. I know he gives plenty of it away.

I think Troy hit the nail on the head. I have done my fair share of testing of PBMG products but have never been compensated with money. Have they give me stuff to review? You bet. Have they given me stuff to test before release and to keep hush. Yup. The only thing that I get in return is I get to keep what I was given and to give my honest opinion.

One product comes to mind. At the time I lived down the road from PBMG headquarters so I would stop by to pick up orders all the time.

I was given a test sample of what was going to be the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating. I brought it home and did a test panel on my personal vehicle and it was absolutely HORRIBLE! It was like applying gorilla glue and trying to wipe off. I told them my experiences and a week or so later they had a new sample for me to try and low and behold it was awesome!

My point is, I think it`s very important and a very good thing that they reach out to fellow real world detailers who would potentially use products on clients cars for them to get real world feedback. And I can personally say that whenever I have given my feedback in person weather good or bad they respect it and keep trying. Like Troy said it`s easy to write a good review when you have a company producing great products.

As for Polish Angel. I have written some reviews on here for products I won on giveaways. I like all there stuff. Especially Cosmic Spritz and Glasscoat Cosmic. My only problem is the cost. I don`t keep it in stock because it`s not profitable for me too.
