<strong class='bbc'>What do you think the fine/penalty would be for 170 in a 70? Got it up to 170 today on a nice open and smooth stretch of freeway. Past 155 mph I became accutely aware of the wind noise and buffeting. The car was nice and stable with light hands on the wheel. Aside from being in an airplane that's the fastest I've ever gone. [/b]</blockquote>
you would most certainly be arrested and your car would be impounded..that's IF they can catch you. :)

At 170 MPH, I'd just run from any cops I see...you can outrun them and they know it. Just make sure you park somewhere and cover up your car FAST before the backup gets to you.

I'd just outrun them if I passed a cop. Make sure that you get somewhere and park the car fast. If they get your plates, they'll go straight to your house. It doesn't really matter if they get your plates or not, cause they can't prove that you were driving.

The fastest I've gone in my Alfa was over 240km/h (150mph) on 'S' rated tires!!! I didn't really look down at the speedo that much, but I watched it pass the 240 mark. When going that fast, I went around a slight bend in the highway that I didn't realize was that sharp. Well let's just say that I almost crapped my pants as my car drifted from the inside lane to the outside lane:eek: . I've just got a new Sharp video camera, and I think I want to get a clip of a 150+ mph blow-by. I'd love to hear what it sounds like with the engine singing at 6500+rpm.

you are a maniac dood...:p ...puter...no surprises from u i knew your were certifiable in the first place.......ryan....please dont try to take video pics while your goin that fast dood...you guys are scary man...me and my little Max just go about 80.......then again im in NYC so...there aint no roads that are long enough for me to get it up that high....unless i go up to Bill Lessards neck of the woods:D

It's supposed to do 180 mph. It was still pulling at 170 before I had to back out of it.

The fastest I've ever been clocked was 178 in a 40... Although I have seen the speedometer past 195 (Unknown Acutal Speed as the speedos are usually well off at that point). 1996 Suzuki GSXR 750, Stage III Jet Kit, Factory Ignition Advancer, Yoshimura RS-3 Exhaust, Gears and a bad day at work!

And yes, ordinarily I would've ran from the cop.. but this cop was smart... and waited for me to return from the one way in/one way out road. He ended up pretty cool, wrote me up for 103/40 (If you really consider that a break) and no recklace driving... I rode the bike away. Definitely thought I was meeting an inmate that night!

Ya'll scare me with these speeds on roads with other cars! All it takes is some old lady to pull out in front and you are toast.

I do hope you take it careful! I have seen too many wrecks with cars rear ended or driven off the road and lost control to high speed.

Just my sobering thought for the evening.

In addition, those of us in northern climates really need to be careful. I just had a friend of my niece's roll his new Monte Carlo because he hit a patch of black ice and lost control.

Fastest 156.....

Fastest getting caught 64 in a 25......

In Indiana it is 20 over is reckless, here is a pic for one of my 80 in a 55's that I have gotten a ticket for, I have had 2 for 80 in 55. It is me in the SS in the front then the state trooper in the Silver Z28, then my friend Ben in the black Z28. bought my way out of all my tickets, but I still learnd................

a) Redcar, is that I-65?

b) The fastest I ever got caught at was 95 in a 55 but that was several years ago and I did not get a ticket for it from the Illinois State Police (Thank God!).

Both the Z28 (modified) and the Lexus 400 are good for better than 150 mph but they will never see it. Much too dangerous for me and especially anyone else on the road. Anyone can drive in a straight line at high speed. The true analysis of skill is at the track or strip. There acceleration, lateral g's, torque management and braking come into play.

Also, most speedos on cars are very optimistic. :D

no 31north up by Rochester:) we were on out way to a car show......

That pic reminded me of certain parts of I-65. :D

Washington DC to Madison, WI in 10 hours, 8 minutes (935 miles) including gas stops and the 1 hour time difference.

Saw two cops along the way, a quick flash of red/blue and then nothing after that... This was in 1998, and I was in my race gear - Dainese Safety Pro 1pc suit w/Knox back protector, Daytona boots ($700/pr), Kushitani GPR gloves ($160/pr), Arai Quantum e helmet.

My buddy and I used to purposely try to outrun the cops back in the day...now we've matured and only run when chased. ;)

BTW, most speedo's are very "optimistic" at higher speeds - my 97 YZF showed 200mph, but top speed was at best 170. My 99 R1 shows a 208mph top speed, again top speed is about 170...Friends Hayabusa shows well over 220, actual probably around 190. That Hayabusa is scary...too heavy & waaaay to fast!

[Edit] Oh yeah, the nice thing about a bike is that it doesn't take too long to get up to speed...the YZF1000 did (according to mag's) 0-60 in 2.8, 0-100 in 4.9, 0-170 in 3100 feet, 70 - 0 in 135 feet. Not much road is required for a quick "test" (i.e. Interstates).

I never realized how fast 100mph was until I tried to stop quickly! Racing and track schools pay off big time. [/Edit]
