Detailed: 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I'll be the loser - 85mph in my Honda Accord Coupe is the fastest I've ever driven in the US.

Although I got up to 165 kilometers/hr on the A562 in Germany in an Audi A3.

In my weekend car, never more than a quick blast under 100 mph, I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone, just out for a nice cruze with the top down. Drag strips are for speed, or the autobahn, not our hiways. Too many things to go wrong that are out of my control.

The roads are to bad to go fast around here. There are also too many drunks driving. The fastest I've driven is 95 mph on I 12. The funny thing is, I had my cruise control set at 95 and people were still passing me up. The fastest I've been is 144 mph in my cousin's 02 911.

I did 120 in a 45 with a 94 z28 racing a crossfire I was first of the line but he passed me when my car reached its limit of 120 he wound up doing 140 and no cops and no tickets. Funny the next day the coolant light came on.

I buried the speedo (160) in my SRT-4 with a bit left to go, but I shut it down.

I have only done it once, and probably will never do it again, just wanted to see if it would actually do it :D

that is fast when you look at the fact that it electronically limited to a top speed of

148 mph (easy to remove)

but the top speed is drag limited is 156 mph

Well, IME "indicated speed" and the actual speed are seldom the same when you get into the big numbers unless you have a "certified speedometer". Even many exotics are way off at the top end.

And mine has the Mopar Stage 1 PCM, and other modifications. Sure stock its limited, but mine sure isn't.

Also agree to great lengths what is said in the post before mine about the accuracy. But I thought we were supposed to be using the numbers provided from our stock gauges here ;)

No biggie, just clarifying.. but while on subject, where'd you read the drag limitation? I remember reading such a number, but not that low.. just wondering.

Maybe you have a nice soft limiter  I bet the Edge has one too, sometimes such things are set lower than you'd expect.

I think the Edge is around 115. Unlike the previous gen Malibus, they don't possess a fuel cutoff at 105.

The 101 is actually one of our less packed freeways. They did some surveys before they installed the cameras and I think the average speed was in excess of 80 mph when the posted speed limit is 65 mph. The 202 is even more insane. The limit on that is 55 mph, but you are still getting road-raged at 65 mph. Personally, I think they either need to up the speed limits or find a way to install digital speed limts signs that they can control depending on traffic flow and time of day.

Additionally, Scottsdale has a speed camera on Shea Blvd. The darned sign is <100 ft before you hit the camera.

I have already seen one of the DPS mobile units sitting under the ramp to US 60 from I-10. Since then, I have been watching that area like a hawk.

I have seen one DPS motorcycle officer sitting there recently.

My personal largest break of the law was about 150 in a 30 in a turbo 300z (long long straight road in the middle of no where). Fastest documented incident was 122 in a 70 outside Atlanta. Documented by Georgia's finest.

Bet that one cost you a little ;)

Were you taken into custody? Here in OH. triple-digits = into custody.

I do ~15 above the limit on the highway, maximum of 10 over the limit in a 45 or below zone. Usually do 25-30 in a 25, NEVER over 30.

Documented by SCHP 127mph in a 55 zone, he let me go with a ticket. 1999 M3 sedan:

over 180mph many times on an '06 Busa:

155mph (limted) in an '05 E55:

No pictures, but had a Ford SHO that actually went by a Lexus GS 400 that was limted to 155. The SHOs speedo only went to 140 and the needle kept going till it was pointing straight down.

Yup, spent 24 hours in the can for that one. 6 months suspended license, 122 hours of community service, and over $1000 after probation and court costs.

That's about what I figured.

HBR- Lucky you, getting off with just a ticket in the M3 (nice car BTW, I have a '97 M3 sedan in Byzanz metallic).
