So my dad recently had his 348ts serviced at Ferrari of Orange County, and I explicitly made sure he told them not to wash it. Well, they did anyway and you can see how the horrible aftermath (mind you the paint was mint beforehand).
Being a detailer I see this all the time from dealer washes, but you would think that a Ferrari dealer would take a little better care of the cars – wrong!
Being the nice son I am, I went to work correcting all the horrible swirls put into the paint. Here are some before and afters so you can see the difference:
- ONR wash
- no clay needed
- Menzerna SIP on green LC CCS (in heavily swirled areas)
- Menzerna SIP on orange Sonus Swirlbuster pad (X 2 on the hood)
- Mezerna PO106ff on white LC CCS
- Isopropyl wipedown
- ZymÖl carbon
- Duragloss Aquawax

Here you can see the difference between the hood and the fender:

Can you say ZERO swirls?
I would say the moral of the story is it doesn’t matter what kind of car you drive: Stealership washes are the work of the devil!
