Color choice for your next car

Probably a mid gray. I have an anthracite Acura CL now (dark metallic grey) and I like it but I really like a lighter mid tone grey, seen it on the Honda S2000, BMWs, G35 coupe and VW beetle.

Every time I go to buy a car, my heart tells me to get black, but my head tells me I'd be crazy. I love a black car when it's clean - it is IMHO the best-looking color in any car. But it's hot and a pain to keep looking good.

My first car was black and it looked terrible 90% of the time. I was a kid and didn't know anything about detailing or proper washing procedures, so that didn't help at all. Sometimes I tell myself it would all be different if I had a black car now, with much more knowledge about how to take care of it. And I'm sure it would - the difference is I'd spend ALL my free time on the car!

My last car was silver. I got bored to death of the color. Every other car on the road is silver these days. But, yeah, it was really easy to take care of.

I love the metallic blue on my RX-8. I don't think I'll ever tire of that color. But when it's time to buy another vehicle, I will battle my "buy a black car" demons before I just look at the colors available on what I'm interested in and buy the one that looks second best after black. :)

Black is hot!

Besides the higher maintenance, black is just too hot for Texas weather. I remember washing a black limo at a charity thing and steam was coming off the top of the roof (not the hood), when we put the water hose on it, ouch.

I currently have a black car and really love it, but my next car will be red. I would love to have a rich looking burgundy!

Unlike many, I don't think silver is boring or uninspiring to detail. In fact, it's more of a challenge just because it really is hard to give depth to silver. :p

Of course, I do have a silver TL.

That being said, I'll probably compromise on my next car. Not black (too much in my life to spend that much time on it) and not silver... so probably Anthracite/Metallic Grey (like you see on the Acura TL's and TSX's.)

You can get some pretty gratifying results fairly easily and still not have to spend every waking moment keeping it defect free.

A metallic Slate Grey, for the reason that IMO, that will give me all the reflectiveness and other facets that are fine and beautiful on a car. The flake, combined with the darkness, will have much "pop". Yet I wont have to deal with the problems of a black finish as carefully. In addition, IMO, I wont have to worry about fading or any other problems with UV as much. The right choice to show off ... a car with many subtle contours. Chrysler 300C !:bounce

My pick for my next victim !

I have had 3 black cars and one white car, and considering I just bought a black car last year I would have to say I would go with Black again. It is a pain to keep looking nice, but nothing can compare when all washed up exept maybe a dark blue color

Red! :-) I'm greatly enjoying my Altima SE R's "Code Red" color, after having blue and silver. Not that I'm any pro at detailing, but it's a color that makes you smile when you walk up to it :-)

Light Pewter Metallic

Black

Charcoal

Dark Cherry Metallic

As much as I like vibrant colors like reds, yellows, and oranges, I try to avoid them when it comes to my cars.

For me it would have to be in the range between a drk royal blue (with a soft tint) and a shade darker than sky blue, with a saddle tan leather interior!

I always dreamed about owning a mint looking blue car (besides navy, but I will also take a navy with a bleach white top...probably a convertible or fabric top somehow), so the next one may be it.

Since I've seen only one recommendation for red, I'll second that choice since I just bought a car in the Dark Toreador Red metallic paint. I've never had a red car before, and I just love it. Even with a light coat of dust it still pops.

Toreador Red is one of my all time favorite colors. Dark red with a kind of coppery/orange overtones. I also love the new Mazda blue.

I think that the silvery- light blue color that was pretty popular in the '80s was a real easy to keep nice color. It was easy to keep clean but still had depth and sparkle when clean. I haven't seen it on many newer cars - just the Mini and the Aveo. The teal on our '01 MPV is pretty close.

I wanted Victory Red (bright red) on the Silverado I just bought but couldn't find one the way I wanted so I settled for Dark Metallic Gray. It's about one step below black with a ton of metallic flake. The jury's still out on that one.
