Civic Si vs. RSX vs. Tiburon

:woohoo:

I had a first gen Tiburon and I really liked it. Now if they had that bigger engine with the 6 speed in the first gen styling.. WOW then i would get another one in a heartbeat

Went out today & drove the si and the RSX-S - the Hyundai dealer didn't have a single Tib to drive!

First, she drove the RSX-S. Very nice car. Felt comfortable, well laid out and easy to drive - had a bit of trouble with the short throw shifter.

Next was the si - still wrapped in paper. Eh. First, the quality of materials was no where near the Acura - felt very cheap. Not to offend anyone, but it was very 'ricer'. The dash is, well, different. Neither of us liked it. The interior of the si just felt like it was designed for (and by) a 17 year old. I guess I was really disappointed - was expecting a lot more from it.

So those are the quick conclusions. I think we're going to make an offer on the RSX...and of course it's black. :soscared:

lol the shifter on an 03 rsx-s isnt bad...as i posted before, the ludes were the super short, the space between a gear and neutral is now the space between gears  fun once you get used to it

Ask her to visit a VW dealership and drive a new GTI with DSG transmission. 27000 miles on mine in merely 8 months.

How about Honda Accord V6 coupe? Thats another option. But outa those three, first would be the Si, then RSX, then tiburon.

If she doesnt mind 4 doors, how about the new mazdaspeed 3????

For 2 doors does she like the small scion coupe?

She wants something a little more sporty looking than the 3 - my Dad just sold his so we're familiar with them. And wee looked @ a TC @ the auto show. Again, like the si, geared toward 17 year olds (and we're about twice that age!).

I think the std. Accord is too 'teacher' for her.

And maybe it's just our age, but there was no comparison between the RSX and the Si. The RSX was much more refined. I was very disappointed in the Si. I have a Honda, so was expecting it to be wonderful, and it just wasn't. The fake Alcantra look seats, and all the embroidery just made me think of accessories you'd pick up @ PepBoys in the import aisle. I probably prefer the exterior of the Si, but the interior and overall feel of the car are just no where close to the RSX. If the Si was $16,000 and the RSX-S was $24,000, I would put them at equals, but at the same price for both (Si had Nav) the RSX is far superior (IMHO).

Are you buying new? If so I'd STRONGLY recommend getting a light color(PWP, JGM, AS), NBP is a major PITA.

The shifter is actually pretty nice in the RSX. I know some owners complain of it "grinding 2nd" or "notchy" feeling, but I really don't experience it and if I did it's very minimal. I'd go RSX, just be warned about my two previous complaints; road noise and dash rattles.

How bout a Accord Coupe V6 6spd? Faster than all of the other options and doesn't quite look teacher IMO. Course I'm a little bias since I have one. lol

And as for the Mazda3... how bout the new mazda speed3? That thing is cool.

Hmm how about a mini? I know that isn't one of your top 3 but those can be pretty bad a**. The standard cooper starts a $17,450 wheras the cooper S starts at $20,900.

She's looking for something a little skeeker. From her first three choices, you can get an idea of the style she likes.

I don't have anything against the Mini, but I'm probably be laughing at it next weekend. It's going to be the pace car for the kart race we're going to next week. I can't wait to see them try to hustle it around the track in front of 80 mph TaG karts. :getdown

Mini to pace kart race

I think the new (07) Mazda Speed 3 is the sportiest of the bunch....

260+ HP

6 speed manual

LSD

18" wheels

Sport Seats

Alum. pedals

All for 23K....STEAL.

ahh i wish i had a V6...the rents didn't like the idea of me having 240hp (in 03) so i got the I4 :(

Leaving to go back to the dealer and make an offer in just a few minutes. I have my number of what I'll pay, and they can either meet it or we'll go elsewhere (dealer 20 miles away has four of them on the lot - this dealer has one).

My top offer will be leaving them the holdback + $500 over their invoice - and they get the financing (must match e-loan's best rate). I normally woudln't be this generous with a purchase, but he's going to whine about how rare these cars are & all that. Will be taking along the duct tape to put over my wife's mouth - she's a little giddy aobut buying a new car....not real good for negotiations. And called to make sure our salesperson was going to be there & he's out sick, so we are working with the sales manager. Is he going to say "Let me go talk to my sales manager" and then go in front of a mirror and have a little talk with himself? :)
