Chemical Guys Petes 53 Ivory Paste Wax?

So I went down to Wax Works today (the shop founded by Pete, the person this wax is named after) and spoke with Pete's step-son about the wax. They had one jar there that they had been using and they said they were really happy with it. Unfortunately they didn't have any to sell yet, but I told him I'd be buying a couple tins when they come in. The stuff smells pretty good. I can't wait to get my hands on some and try it out on my truck.

be jealous...CG is a short drive away from me....

wow very lucky, i saw that pic on the website.

what is the test product?

they must have just put up those pics..hahaha...didn't even know until you just posted...Mark and Paul are cool guys...

the test product...my new favorite...first of all the peaches and cream smell to it would make me buy it even if it didn't do anything....I was in their shop and I asked the guys if they had a waterless wash like Optimum No Rinse, DP 4 in 1, or PB Spray and Wipe...Mark and Paul just had a grin from ear to ear and grabbed a mf and we went outside to a dirty dark blue suv that was parked outside...sprayed a panel down with the stuff...let it sit just for a second or two (this was the amazing part...you can actually see the product emulsifying and encapsulating dirt!!!! :soscared: ) then you gently wipe down just like you would any other "waterless" wash but this is the interesting part...this stuff actually hazes!!! some kind of polish/glossing agent is left behind that is EASILY buffed to a high shine...its like an AIO in a spray bottle...wash/polish/lsp all in one...although my guess is the gloss it leaves behind is not that durable....it works great as a qd'er, wipes away any polish/wax residue and sling....and is awesome on door jams...gets rid of the dirt and leaves behind a nice shine....not sure exactly what it is made up of...but all I know is I'm picking up a gallon of this stuff as soon as it is available....

Actually carnuba itself is fairly cheap, it's the blending of other chemicals and a "little Hype" that drive the price up.

So Brazilian No. 1 White Carnauba is cheap?

This wax does sound interesting. It contains a lot of the same ingredients as Zymol waxes like propolis and montan oil and of course white carnauba. For $37 I might have to try it out.

It depends on the volume of White to Yellow. The greater the amount of White to Yellow, the higher the price. Very few waxes are 80/20 (white/yellow), and ever fewer are more than that.

"The wax is 70% Brazilian No.1 White Carnauba by volume. This is the most rare, expensive and pure wax you can find in the world." (referring to Zymol)

I personally think yellow is much cheaper than white, due to all the refining processes to get it in its ultra-pure state, I would think this would cause for the increase in price.

Then again, I may be wrong..

Thanks a lot DieselMDX, I get to lose a little more money. I swear, no more waxes after this. Ordered this and the Citrus Wash.

I'm going to visit the CG shop tomorrow and take a look at this stuff. The price cut is nice, granted it was $45+ before.

Please ask them how it compares to 5050 in terms of appearance, application, and durability.

I'm also curious as to when this special price will expire. All the website says is that it's on sale for the next 30 days. It makes no mention as to when that 30 days starts or stops.

I just ordered mine last night and should have it arriving mid detail to me this Friday. I will post a small review within the detail thread of the car im doing on Saturday.

It was released something like 3 days ago. So I'd guess they mean the end of April? :idea

I'm also curious about Petes vs. 50/50. I wonder which looks better on metallics (especially light metallics) and which has the greater durability.
