Chemical Guys: "ONE", pics and process.

been experimenting with ONE...added some Blitz to it...its like ONE and an lsp all in a bottle...cleans and protects...saves me a step and looks great....

Thanks for that info, rkf76. :) Just ordered a small bottle of it from smartwax's web site.

Does anyone know if it's available in one gallon sizes from chemicalguys? I hate paying for shipping on small 16 ounce bottles. Much rather get a couple gallons at once. I've tried calling CG's 24/7 customer support number to find out about ordering gallons, but no one has answered today. Must be because it's Father's Day.

I have a feeling this is gonna be my go-to product come winter time.

No problem. I have a feeling you're gonna love this product as much as I do. It's so incredibly easy to use, looks so good once you buff it off, and the smell is lovely too. Matter of fact, i'm about to go out and "wash" my car with it.

Can someone please explain to me how these waterless washes work without damaging the paint? How dirty can the car be and these products still be safe? What is the proper method and tools of washing with waterless products? Thanks.

I think the process and methods have already been pretty much explained thru this thread. Did you read it all?

When are CG going to put it on their site?

I'll ask Paul when I call him tomorrow to order a gallon of it. I'm also gonna order a pump pressure spray bottle for it.

Its funny that you mention that because I was just gonna post on the difference between CG ONE and other ONE step products out there and the pump sprayer seems like a common application method. There have been other products like this on the market for a while such as No-Wet Green & Clean Waterless Car Wash, wax and sealant & Dri Wash 'n Guard Waterless Car Wash, which all seem to be very similar to CG ONE and Smartwax, especially the NOWET which is biodegradible and contains no harsh chemicals. They all have the same description, process & application. I have a NOWET distributor in my town that I saw at a car show once, so I posted on here a while back and basically everyone said that is was no good if you want a mar free finish and not worth the cost, but now everyone is all over the CG ONE. I do remember the NOWET being rediculously expensivve, like $60 a gallon or more, and using it as a wash I figured I would be blasting through it so I forgot about it till this thread. Is there really a difference between these products, the pump sprayer seem to tell me not. Is there anyone out there that has used these others that can comment on if CG really is different then these other products that have been around fro a while. Wonder what the price of CG ONE is going to be? Is there a specific reason for the spray pump

How well does ONE work against tree sap and tar? Do I have to rinse my car before hand for the sap and tar?
It doesn't, unfortunately. All it'll do is leave smears. I learned this firsthand this past weekend when I tried to use it on my car, it had a few sap spots on it and it just made a mess. I didn't have anything that could get the sap of so I ordered some Megs Body Solvent.

Save yourself the headache and get the sap off before you use ONE.

I haven't used any other waterless washes so I don't know, it even took me a while to work up the balls to try this stuff.

I'm gonna try the pump sprayer because I think it'll allow me to get a more even application layer. The trigger included just doesn't work for me. The spray is heavier than I think it should be and the pattern is inconsistent at best. Since CG owns SmartWax, and SmartWax also distributes ONE, I'll just likely order the gallon from them and see if I can get an empty pump spray bottle as well.

From all I know it would be unreasonable to expect that ONE works against tree sap and tar at all while also expecting it is a car wash that does not strip LSP because, again, from all I know, two are mutually exlusive. Otherwise it would be solvent. We don't expect that from water why should we from ONE?

Before trying pump sprayer why not try better sprayer, like Meguiar's D110803?

I just talked to Paul and ended up ordering a gallon of "one". I really want to see how well it will work on my boat after pulling it out of the lake. Also I can teach my wife on how to use it since she drives all over the state and that will help me on my war on bugs!!!

Oh yeah, I just want to say Paul is an awesome guy to deal with and I will diffently buy again from CG.

Now that is an awesome idea. I've been avoiding going to the lake with my brother, cause he always insists on a wash and wax afterwards. (just kidding, bro...) Ho boy... looks like i'm finally gonna go water skiing!

Man, that is a fantastic idea! Please post pics or at least a post of how well it works??? I have days off coming up. :)

I will post some pics and a review hopefully by this weekend, if weather permits (damn rain). My buddy always uses Babes boat spray and really likes it for wiping the boat down after pulling it out of the lake but, to me it seems like an overpriced QDer. So hopefully "one" will be the answer and my buddy and I will have more time to wakeboard and waterski.

Just placed my order for ONE. Had to call C/G because it's not on their website. We'll see if this lives up to expectations. Cost is around $40 per gallon, which to me is fairly expensive. Hopefully the pay-off will have to be in the time savings. We'll see...

I finally got a chance to use One, and it is a little different than I expected it to be. First of all, I find it virtually useless as a waterless wash for anything more than surface dust. If your car is dirty, don't bother using this product. You don't use nearly enough liquid on the paint for it to "wash" anything, unlike ONR or other products in that category.

That being said, as a lsp type one step on a fairly clean car with only minimal dirt, its wonderful. The finish it leaves is excellent and fills quite well too.

Summary: I like it as a quick lsp with no prep required, but not as a waterless wash.

Thanks for the review. Seems a little contrary to what other people have posted though. Makes me thing twice on a semi-dirty vehicle.
