Care to watch the progress of my custom bar???

Wow, I'm officially jealous as hell now. If you have a bar that sweet you really have to upgrade your beer selection from 90% Miller Lite. :chuckle:

Excellent work. Question, and pardon my inexperience with this kind of work. What did you use to nail your base studs to the concrete floor?

I've looked through so many "bar" sites that I have no idea if I've been to those particular ones....

No, I won't be installing a 'functional' tapper, but I do have an old 8 spout tapper rig from when my grandfather tore a business bar apart...I do have a special plan for that, but I'm not revealing the secret. :hide:

Yes there is going to be plumbing to the sink...There is water and drainage about 8-10 ft. behind that sink/wall...It will go through the wall, take a direct left, then a right and run alond the foundation wall the 10 ft. span to tie into existing plumbing.

It's gonna dispense Menzerna polishes and various carnaubas!! :LOLOL

Not exactly, but I'm going to need some Autopian style supplies to clean the thing up. I'll post a picture or 2 of it in the morning. I'm on my way to bed now.

Here's the tapper rig that I'm going to be utilizing as a decoration...as you can see, it needs to be cleaned up badly. I originally didn't think I had a place for this, but I felt bad about that because it was giving to me by my grandfather who passed away 2 years ago. I did some brainstorming and think I have the perfect way to use it...

Wow what a cool tap. My uncle has a tap in his living room with the fridge/mini-keg in the adjacent room. Is there no way of getting the old one working?

I believe with the proper connection parts and a keg that the tap would work just fine. I however, have no interest in having this be functional beer tapper. I hate draught beer in the first place, and definately don't drink enough beer in general to justify having a tap. As stated...I do have what I believe to be a pretty creative way of using it though. Its going to take some work and I still have to finish the main bar stuff before I start worrying to much about decorating.

I have both of my mom's dog's at my house for the next couple days...along with my ever spastic black lab, they are making for a trio of K9's that aren't leaving me a whole lot of free time to work. I would like to get the trim up on the bar and get it painted...we'll see about that.

Good work! I work full time as an HVAC service tech for my day job. My boss and I go out to this guy's house and he has a basement bar, we built him a keg-o-rator. He had it decked out, pool table, projector and screen, a computer....pretty wild for a house! I got myself a neon sign last week for free that you will appreciate....an 8 foot Miller Lite neon sign. I have to get one of the tubes repaired but it works. One of our customers was moving things around in his store and asked me if I wanted it. I see some wild stuff out there! I had a friend that worked for a beer distributor and he got me all kinds of stuff when I lived in NC. If you are going for the bar theme you might try making nice with someone that works for your local distributor and seeing if you can get hooked up. I would also try convienence stores or grocery stores....they get rid of their promotional items often. I know in NC the distributor does the merchandising in stores but some places might do things differently. I am glad to see you didnt bash your ductwork in to erect the wall! I had some professional electricians trash some of the ductwork on a job I had been working on! Are you going to plumb in the drain on your drip tray? You definately have more room behind your bar than a couple resturants I do service on! Nice work, I will check back to see your progress and congrats!

Yeah, I had the dogs for a few days and didn't accomplish much. Couple family things and the Super Bowl in the past few days has equalled me not getting very far. I need to get back on track as I've definately slid down since my rapid start.

I ended up making my own trim to go around the outside of the top. The only trim I could find that would have worked was $14 for an 8 foot piece and I wasn't real fond of it anyways. So, I decided to buy a 1/2 inch sheet of plywood and make my own. Used the table saw to get it all ripped to the right widths and used a basic router bit to just round off the top edge. After getting it all cut to length and the angles mitred right I spent most of yesterday putting wood filler in holes and sanding. The plywood was "sanded" on one side, but is hardly finished.

Routing the edge of the plywood made it splinter out a couple spots, but nothing too bad. I was sure to use a new router bit to minimize that. Few rounds of wood filler and sanding and its looking/feeling pretty good. All this small finishing stuff takes much longer than just roughing a frame together!

I'm planning on getting all the corners trimmed on the base of the bar and then painting today...

BTW...thanks for bringing this to the top...it helps me get/stay motivated, and I need all the help I can get hahaha

looks good! The finnish work always takes forever! I like the bead board, plywood sure makes it easier than individual strips.
