I need something for this coming weekend that can get off that brake dust!

Whats the best one available at local auto part stores? ie. Autozone, Pepboys, Advanced Auto, Napa, Lee / Murrays... I think thats all the ones I got in my area.

Thanks!

You can get a EZ Detail Brush "knock off" at Autozone. You might want to try some Megs Wheel Brightner 4:1 on the wheels.

I've checked my local walmart and autozone and they only have meg's hot rims, not wheel brightener. Is wheel brightener common? I haven't checked the local pep boys.

Get some wheel brightner-I have a client with those same wheels and they get nasty-must be the stock brake pads for BMW. Be careful with that toxic stuff though and do not leave it on too long. You probably will have to order it on the net.

Alright I'll have to call around to see if anyone local has the Megs WB... otherwise I'll give 4:1 APC a try.

Wheel brightener scares the bejeezus out of me. If you go that route, wear eye, respiratory, and skin protection. I've been pretty well pleased with the Eagle 1 A2Z cleaner but it's not as strong as wheel brightener.

Once you get your wheels clean, you might want to do a sealant on them. Poli-Seal, Opti-Seal, or Klasse maybe. Should keep that brake dust from sticking so much in the future.

Megs Hot Rims works pretty well for an OTC product. It was able to get rid of some heavy brake dust on a couple e46's I've worked on in the past. Just make sure to get the one appropriate for your wheel ;)

have you tried claying the wheels yet with a med/aggressive clay?? Quite possibly though it may take a few wash's to break down the layers of crap on the wheels. Just like with paint, you cannot always get the results you want with just one pass.

i had those wheels when i had my 325i. they never got that dirty but, Eagle One All Tire Cleaner works well. let it sit for a few minutes and use the brushes you have. let the solution do most of the work. spray off with a sharp jet stream of water. repeat process if there is still some left.
