are you happy with Obama's progress so far?

You know at first i thought i was talking to someone with a mind but you know i guess i was wrong. Stick to your beliefs and your bull sh** ways and good luck because your wasting my time . And if you haven't found a job by now you loser than good for you, you deserve what you get. If you can't find a job then tough sh** on you, I'm tired of your excuses Your probably holding out for a top paying job instead of getting your a** out there and looking. Good luck in your loser of a life you have. Don't waste anymore of my time. SEE YA!! You know you must not be doing so bad if can afford to keep using your computer . Your one of those people that want to suck off the government so you must be one of those welfare cases that I'm always paying for!! Go get a job and stop complaining LOSER

You know at first i wrote something nasty but i deleted it, because I'm better than that. All i can say is you believe what you believe and I'll believe what is FACTS.

So marriage counseling is now included in your health care plan. What's wrong with that ? Instead of paying out of pocket, the government pays for it.

You are amazing..........The Government pays for it. Yes that's true. Where do you think the government gets the money ? (I can't believe i have to explain this to you) TAX PAYERS YOU *******. You know what I'm done with both of you WELFARE CASES!!!! GOOD BYE!!!!

Wow.....this has turned into a rather lively debate. Normally, I try to stay out of the political discussions, but this one is pretty compelling. One of the better "Hot Tub" discussions in recent memory, if I say so myself.

As to the OP question, I'm not impressed with Obama's "progress". Like a few others on the forum, I am old enough to remember the Carter years, and honestly, NOTHING good happened then. While I will be the first to admit Obama inherited some "issues", you can't blame EVERYTHING on Bush. Kinda like me telling my dentist "I think that cavity was caused by the donut I ate this morning.....or maybe it's because I haven't been brushing. It's one or the other." It's never easy in politics, because there is always mudslinging by both sides. Part of the issue with Obama is the fact that he was a political virgin from an extremely corrupt state. My apologies to all of the IL Autopian's, but history does not lie. IL, and Chicago in particular, is practically the birthplace of political corruption. Mix that in with the fact that he has some very socialist leanings, and I'm am not surprised at Obama's sinking approval rating.

A couple of observations from my years on the planet: Politicians are inherently dishonest. ALL politicians, regardless of party affiliation. For every Rangel, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, et al, there are correspondingly bad Republicans. Government rarely does anything well, and larger government is certain to create problems. There are really only two types of "good" politicians: dead ones, and moderates.

The reason Clinton was so popular -- despite the incredible stupidity he displayed in his personal life -- lay in the fact that he was a moderate. Just like drinking, politics is best in moderation. We've swung WAY too far to the left with this "community organizer" that we have in office now, and I have virtually NO interest in seeing what a far right president looks like, especially if it is Palin. For some reason, as others have noted, it's a country of extremes right now, either far right or far left. Both viewpoints have inherent pitfalls, and are susceptible to special interest interference.

Personally, I will be shocked if Obama is re-elected. He got the ultimate hall pass from the MSM during the campaign, and anyone that disagreed with him was painted as a racist. Unfortunately for Obama, his own personal chickens are coming home to roost, and I don't think it's going to end well. The Obamas, as a family, have been on EIGHT vacations this summer -- how many have you been on? Right now, he's viewed as a political lightweight who is married to a bitter harpy. There are MILLIONS of unemployed people in the country right now who are watching Obama's behavior closely. He may have gotten their vote in '08, but it's unlikely he'll get their vote in '12.

The last 3 years have caused me to rethink my voting. I'm a registered Independent, and have voted for both Democrats and Republicans over the years. Both parties, however, are in need of a complete housecleaning, and the best place to start is at the polls in the upcoming elections. You have to remember that these amoral humans will NEVER approve term limits, so it's up to us, the voting public, to flush that toilet that we know as "politics" from time to time.

If Harry Truman were alive today, he would probably prefer to drop the next A-Bomb on Washington, D.C.

considering the situation he inherited I'd say he's doing better than expected...

balancing a recession

2 wars

and trying to fix healthcare, the most likely thing to bankrupt this country, with SS a close second...

I'd say yes...

I can only imagine the mess if the previous admin were still at the helm

hell, they put us in this jam...and now everyone expects it fixed in <2 years...(I voted for gee-dub 1st go around, fool me once...shame on you...)

typical American mentality

instant gratification

I'm right, everyone else is wrong

we are doomed...the divisiveness, hate for fellow Americans of the 'other' political persuasion, and good old greed will be our undoing...

what!

you advocate nuking an American city?!

that is crazy, even in jest...

Truman would never do that...

koo-koo

this is while he initiated 2 wars, reeling from 9/11 and was spending us into bankruptcy...

According to an August 2003 article in the Washington Post, President Bush has spent all or part of 166 days during his presidency at his Crawford, Texas, ranch or en route. Add the time spent at or en route to the presidential retreat of Camp David and at the Bush family estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Bush has taken 250 days off as of August 2003. That's 27% of his presidency spent on vacation.

8.26.2005

President Bush is on pace to spend more time on vacation than any other president in modern times.

Today is the 342nd day he has spent at least some part of the day at his ranch, which means he's spent almost an entire year of his four and a half years in office at the ranch. That doesn't include time he's spent at his parents' place in Kennebunkport, Maine, or at Camp David.

If he stays at his Texas ranch until Sept. 3, as expected, the five-week stint away from the White House -- the 49th vacation he's taken at the ranch -- will surpass President Nixon's monthlong trip to Florida 36 years ago as the longest presidential retreat in the modern era.

Bush isn't the first president to take a lot of time off. His father, President George H.W. Bush, spent 153 days in Maine and 390 at Camp David; Dwight Eisenhower spent 222 days for 29 golf outings in Augusta, Ga., during his eight years in office; Harry Truman spent 175 days in Key West, Fla., over seven years; and Ronald Reagan famously loved his vacations, spending all or part of 335 days during his eight-year presidency at his Santa Barbara, Calif., ranch

16.1.2009

He will likely miss the place: According to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller, today's trip marks Mr. Bush's 149th visit to the presidential retreat. The planned three-day stay, during which the president is being joined by family and former and current aides, will bring his total time spent at Camp David to all or part of 487 days.

Yes, that's 487 days. And Camp David is not even where the president has spent the most time when not at the White House: Knoller reports that Mr. Bush has made 77 visits to his ranch in Crawford during his presidency, and spent all or part of 490 days there.

he spent 33% of his 8 years on vacation...most of us get 4 weeks or 7-8%

but it's wrong when Obama does it...and he's doing it much less

he's no socialist...meet the new boss, same as the old boss, this system is so large, and beholden to so many, it CAN'T change

"Socialized health care" is on its way. The "socialist agenda" is taking over America. And best of all, Barack Obama, a "committed socialist ideologue," is in the Oval Office.

But Wharton, co-chair of the Socialist Party USA, sees no reason to celebrate. He's seen people with bumper stickers and placards that call Obama a socialist, and he has a message for them: Obama isn't a socialist. He's not even a liberal.

"We didn't see a great victory with the election of Barack Obama," Wharton says, " and we certainly didn't see our agenda move from the streets to the White House."

bush sr.? 37%+ of his time in office was spent on vacation...un-fricken-believable

that's 20 weeks per year...he took a week off for every 10 days he worked...

and he waged a war!

like father, like son...you plant corn, you get corn

and they're gonna take shots at Obama...it's down right un-American

[quote name='artm3']what!

Actually, I was advocating that Truman, in his disgust with present-day politicians, would just as soon nuke them. OBVIOUSLY, he would never do that.....

And as to Obama's vacation schedule -- it's amazing what people will remember when the economy is in the tank. You make an interesting comparison to President Eisenhower, a legitimate American war hero. He golfed 29 times in his EIGHT years in office. Obama went golfing 32 times between taking office and 4/19/2010, a span of approximately 16 months.

Barack Obama plays golf eight more times than George W Bush - Telegraph

As far as comparisons go, is there ANY comparison between a community organizer and a man who was the Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in WWII as well as a 5-star General??? Seriously?

Obama needs to understand the concept of "perception is reality" -- if the voting public does not perceive that he is doing an effective job (even if he NEVER sets foot on a golf course), that's his reality.

I'm just giving you the facts of what they want to do to our health care, And these are the facts. This is straight out of the health care bill. No if and or buts. You can not question anything here because it's in black and white!!!!!! WHY MUST YOU THINK THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE IN ALL OUR LIVES I SAY STAY THE F*** OUT OF MY LIFE AND LEAVE ME ALONE. BIG GOVERNMENT SUCKS!!! IF YOU WANT TO LIVE EVERYDAY WITH BIG BROTHER WATCH AND KNOWING WHAT'S GOING ON BE MY GUEST. NOT ME PAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:angry

Where does it say in the bill that you can't keep your existing family doctor ? You're interpreting the bill yourself and spinning it the way you want to. Yes, the bill is black and white, but you're throwing your own opinions in there on what's going to happen. That's not black and white.

You're better than that ? You're ignorant and you insult how other countries handle their health care systems. I find it hard to believe that you can "be better than that".

Yeah, and ? Currently, the health care premiums you pay to insurance companies pay for things like marriage counseling. So now you pay the government instead. Are you so near-sighted that you can't understand that you ALREADY pay for things like this ?

Truman would not nuke a US city...that is insane

economy is good for me, and getting better...Obama deserves some golf...he earned it...

Ike was a piker compared to the bush boys...lol, took too little time off...

the comparison was between bush and Ike, and I did not write it, it was to illustrate how much LESS time Ike took off...

what you need to realize is they were comparing a deserter & coward to a US war hero...

much like the bush jr. vs Kerry comparison ;)

some folks perception is skewed, much like your posts...

like your golf BS

Obama plays and likes golf, bush does not, hence Obama playing more!

compare time off for any activity to date ;)

Interesting......because the following was taken directly from your post. Doesn't really seem like it's trying to emphasize how little time Eisenhower took off, now does it?

If you think John Kerry was a war hero, then your perception is sadly skewed. I can tell by your posts that you are an Obama apologist, and that's cool. Hopefully things continue to go well for you.

1st year

Obama 26 days

bush 69 days (during 9/11!!!)

President Obama has spent all or part of 26 days "on vacation" during his first year as president, according to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller.

President George W. Bush spent even more time away from the presidential mansion in the nation’s capital than Reagan. Of the 77 total "vacation" trips the former president made to his Texas ranch while in office, nine of them — all or part of 69 days — came during his first year as president in 2001, according to Knoller.

Obama is one of the lowest....only 2 others lower...

But at least two recent presidents — by Knoller’s count — took less "vacation" time during their first year than President Obama — Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

hmmmm, BOTH are Democrats...surprise, surprise

Obama apologist? what's he got to apologize for?

I prefer to call it 'sanity' and 'objectivity', not 'apologist'

not your skewed self loathing for our Country

'all enemies, foreign and domestic' ;)

it's you who needs to be a bit more objective: turn off the limbag, et al, and join us in a place called 'reality'

the US Navy said he was, not me...

regardless, he volunteered and didn't get daddy to get him shortlisted

he volunteered for Nam, bush declined service in nam, then went AWOL (desertion in time of war?)

math 001:

222 in 8 years (7%) is a LOT less than 543 in 4 (37%)

so is 175 in 7 (7%) or 335 in 8 (11%)...

read the actual content...not how you want it to read...

not everything can be twisted or distorted to fit your desire/preconcieved notions, ie, fit your 'agenda'

that's called 'insanity', as in Truman bombing DC

Yes, Clinton was a moderate. Feel free to look it up.

Actually, Carter is at the bottom currently -- will history be so kind to Obama as to make him the lowest ranked?
