Age of autopians

36.Vehicle detailing is relaxing to me. An expensive hobby to get into if your going to go all the way the right way. It is also very rewarding when done with patience and time:)
 
39 yrs old. (and 1 year away from a colonoscopy, lol) Originally from Boston Mass. Now living in San Angelo, Texas since 2002. Don't ask me why. Still haven't figured it out yet! I got the detailing bug back in 1986. I had a black '86 IROC back then. My best friend brought his hottie of a girlfriend over to wash & wax my car one day. I got my first lesson that day. He was an apprentice in the Plumber's Union and was the first to tell me, "sh*t flows down hill, Rob. Wash from top to bottom". lol. After he washed my car, we stood back and watched his hottie of a girlfriend wax my car with Blue Coral. She wore a tiny bikini that had some type of "wardrobe malfunction" on a repeated basis. Her top kept coming undone. (oops, lol) From that day on, I was hooked! Blue Coral & Rally Creme Wax were my products of choice at that time. I then discovered Meg's products at Bob's Speed and Auto in Quincy Mass. My passion for detailing & detailing products started to take shape. I became addicted to Meg's #26 paste, and began building a small detailing supply arsenal. #26 was the staple of my arsenal for years until I discovered Autopia. Some $5,000 later.............I possess $4800 more of products that I actually need. (lol) After 20+ years of detailing my own vehicles, friends, family, co workers & the occaisional "side job", my passion for detailing & detailing products is at an all time high. It is one of my favorite things to do. Needless to say, I've owned nothing but black cars & trucks since the mid 80's. (although, I did have a dark green Accord in 2000.) Like many, I thought I "knew it all" in terms of detailing until I found Autopia. I learn something everyday here! We've got some fellow Autopians here that really know their stuff. I thank you all for your knowledge and experience! Now, each time I detail I can hear White Snakes "Here I go again" playing in my head, with images of a bruenette hottie bending over while waxing my Iroc. (oops! My top) lol. Those were the days.
 
Jeff at 47 here in MD. Loved keeping my cars clean and shiny since I was 20 years old. Started with Liquid Lustre (the one they lit on fire on the infomercials) and some other miracle product Dennis Weaver used to endorse with amazing dust repellant properties...!

Blue Coral, Liquid Glass, Polysomething or other and of course DuPont.
 
According to my kids, I am 4 'til 50.



I first got interested in detailing when I was about 14 or so and my Dad bought some Armor All for the vinyl in our Ford Country Squire station wagon with fake wood trim. I thought it was pretty cool how much nicer the vinyl looked after Armor All. Continued when I got my first car, a '71 Chevelle. Even when it was primer grey, I kept it clean.

:werd: What's that old saying? Oh yeah, "a man is only as old as the woman he feels". :2thumbs:



My Dad turned 69 in November and he still washes and waxes his own cars-in fact, he usually wants me to get him detailing stuff for birthdays or Christmas.
 
'I\'m 22 and have been detailing since I was about 19. I was obsessed with keeping my 1st car clean, 03 Mazda 6, and routinely took it through auto car washes. After I saw it in the right light one day and saw the absolutely hideous swirling it had, I vowed to fix it and never let it happen again. While the stuff was in the mail to fix it, I totaled it via a Durango towing an Airstream trailer pulling across a 55mph road in front of me. \r\n\r\nSince I got my new car, 05 Mazda 3 SP23 in Carbon Gray, I have stayed true to my word. Never been through an auto car wash, waxed at least every 3 months, full detail once a year(generally spring) and detail without the clay once a year (generally end of fall). The paint still looks great, except some rock chips and door dings. \r\n\r\nHere it is after the last detail\r\n\r\n

50 + 1, don't feel it though, not yet, the only thing is i just got my first pair of reading glasses, i can't read small print, but seeing far up ahead is no problem i guess this is the begining.....
 
Will be 51 this June. I've been detailing for pay since I was 14 years old. Just started the business five years ago. Love to Detail! :bounce :waxing: :buffing: I 'm having

trouble reading the small print too. Going to need some helpers soon !
 
50...............................When I was rich I paid people to wash and wax my cars. Now I am piss poor so I do it my self for the last 15 years.............It is my therpy
