Advice on first detail of 10k,20yr old car undercarrige

Why are you doing the wheel wells gloss at front satin at back? Finish on mine is identical front and back?

Ask on the psooc for local garages in your area, should be a local grops section for hamsphire.

I would paint the wheel wells body colour which is the factory finish toching up any damaged stone chip before spraying,I know your not going to show the car but if your going to be spraying thecar you moght as well do it correctly. What colour is the car?

When I was in the PSC,Viper motorsport had a good reputation and there was a rolling road place in Port Solent which I think did servicing but I cant remember the name for the life of me.

Sadly I've not had much luck with mecanics except when I worked for Porsche but even then I used to stand over them!

Car is black and I'm sure NSF corner's had some paint as the front end of the wheelwell is showing primer. Anyway, I'd planned to paint the fronts gloss black as the paint already there seemed to be gloss whereas the rears seem to have more of a flat finish (or I haven't cleaned it enough....)

Rich, I'm having a mare on the PSOOC forum - keeps telling me I'm not logged on! And where will I find detais of the Hants section? Sorry to be a PITA - not technically inclined as you may know by now.

Any good deals on tyres out there? For either the 1.6 or 1.9 wheels as the 1.9's have decent enough tyres to run around on but the original wheels have 4 different tyres so want to get decent rubber on there.

Seen Micheldever Tyres mentioned and they're close to me.

For the forum probs

If it keeps asking you to log in then..

First point of call is the info on the opening page of the forum that

says:

Keep being asked to log on again? The problem might be something to do

with your PC being set up not to accept temporary cookies. A cookie

holds your user name and password whilst you have logged in. Each page

you go to, automatically checks to see if you are logged in by looking

at this. This stops people skipping the login and going straight to the

messages. We use this so we can track who has posted things, so if

anything offensive is posted, we know where it has come from. It sounds

harsh, but unfortunately we have needed to use it in the past.

Windows XP comes with Internet Explorer 6, which needs this setting

amending. Go to the Tools menu at the top of this screen and select

Internet Options. Then select the tab at the top that says Privacy and

click on the Edit button. Enter http://209.151.80.232/ in the text box

titled Address of Website and then clock allow. Now click OK twice to

close all the screens and it should be fine. After you have entered your

login details, you should see a screen confirming you have logged in,

just before you are automatically forwarded to the main forum menu page.

Second bet is that you are on AOL and their AOL browser is not very good

so blocks a lot of cookies by default. Try opening the site using

Microsoft Internet Explorer instead. It is much better and it will

work!

I can highly recommend Michealdeaver tyres on price and quality of service, might be worth you having the geometery set up at the same time.

Rich - sorted on the PSOOC forum now - thanks mate! I might just have to embarrass meself at the RR session locally this Saturday - or not.

mytres.com is in Oz - bl**dy long way to go for new rubber.....

Mr Concours - thanks for the pointer.

No worries Rich & thanks for the link. Looks good even for tyre only without fitting, balancing etc.

What's your recommendation for the 1.9 wheel? From your pics looks like you're a Toyo man?

What about the 1.6 (185/60 R14 if I can remember what's on my wheels correctly)?

Yeah- I brought the 185/55 toyos for my 1.9s. Where 42 quid each plus 6 quid each for fitting alot cheaper than any where else.

Can't remember the cost but in terms of grip and longevity there the best I've found and I've had Yokos,Contis and Pirrelis.

Mine are 195s

Rich, tell your mate there are a couple of the correct 'tartan' type early 1.9 interiors on ebay right now, allegedly in excellent condition, cravat emptor!
