I have a new 2008 Accord Coupe and the sponge has not inflicted any marring on the buttery soft clear.

I only use GS's with ONR. It is the only thing I have found to not mar the paint on black cars. I usually give the car a power spray first if it is pretty dirty. But after trying everything with ONR as a wash medium, I have found that my GP's work the best.

Now which materials are the preffered grout sponge?
I've always had a preference for cellulose sponges because of their absorbency and also use small squares for applying waxes because they leave a very even film of wax and waste very little of the wax.
There are foam sponges, and of those I've experienced the really airy ones like the ones in soft applicator pads and the stiffer synthetic grout sponge types.

The Lowes in Redlands doesn't have them. Checking online it appears that they carry them, but when I was down there last week there was no love.
I guess that I'll have to wait until I go to REI in Rancho Cucamonga and check Lowes over that direction. I guess that's the price that I pay for living "up here".
A lot of work for a $1.87 sponge. Maybe I'll buy two, LOL.

just to make sure, write this down so they can definitely check to see if they have them if you can't find them... Item #: 109653 / Model: K-28P
it should be in the section where the cleaning supplies are (mops, etc.), and if they aren't on the ground where they should be next to some other sponges, look above way on top of the over-stock shelf and see if you can locate them (it should be easy, you'll see the front of the box that says proline tile & grout sponge). as DetailDoc mentioned, these get softer and softer with each use... :heelclick
