Yep that's right, this is a review between CarPro Essence and 5 other different coatings. I have been patiently waiting to try out Essence for awhile now, and now I finally get the chance to do so while clearing up some other questions that everyone has been asking. Some of the questions being: "Will other, non-CarPro coatings adhere to Essence?" "Will the other coatings be easy to apply to Essence?" "How well does Essence do as a coating all by itself? How is the water beading on Essence, by itself?"
I decided to test these products on a 2013 VW Red paint. The paint was in "okay" condition, with some RIDS and minor water spots and swirls:
I applied CarPro Essence on the new Lake Country ThinPro white polishing pad with the Griot's Garage G15. I noticed that Essence was somewhat of a thin liquid, not very thick and there was no grit in the product. Very similar to a finishing polish. It also had a light smell of a coating. Sort of smelled like CQuartz.
The polish spread out pretty thin, with no dusting, and it was easily removing the water spots and light swirls.
After pictures:
I believe the Essence worked really good as a polish, it would correct a little bit better with a more aggressive pad, but I think it did a really good job. It left the paint very smooth, even, and clean on the surface, perfect for a coating.
Coatings will now be revealed:
BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating:
Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating Version 2:
CarPro CQuartz:
Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating:
Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating:
Applying the products:
All of the products were very easy to apply and wipe off. There was nothing that stuck out that was super difficult to wipe off/all of the coatings acted quite similar. The easiest coating to use would be the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating. The coating with the slickest feeling was the Pinnacle Black Label Coating, but the rest were pretty slick as well.
After Pictures:
No outside pictures yet, since it was somewhat nasty outside. I let the coatings cure for the rest of day in the garage (around 12 hours) and the owner took the car back home to his garage to let it cure overnight. Luckily the rain stopped just in time when he took it home, so the coating was not altered.
An update will come in about a week with water beading/durability on how the products adhere to CarPro Essence. I will show all 6 sections (the 5 Coatings and Essence)
