I do have my own list, unless you can point me to an approved one, can you? Megs 105 was probably the biggest game changer in the past 10 years as far as polishes go, there are still people that hate it, what does that mean??? Nothing.

I'm glad you have an opinion, that's grand. But to say that someone is schilling a product because they like it, is just funny.

Sounds like you're getting a little defensive for no apparent reason and shot off a quick reply. Anyway, you completely missed my point of having a trusted list, so I won't bother explaining it. And where exactly did I say someone is schilling a product because they like it? I thought we were talking about an actual employee of a company, not just someone who likes it. Let me know what you come up with.

Agree with you, but if I was on another forum and Mike Phillips or Todd Helmes was speaking highly of a product, my first thought wouldn't be that they are just pushing the item in question. These guys detail for a living and use the same stuff. But that is just me.

I don't know how my reply above comes across, but I don't like when my honesty is questioned. So I will always speak up for myself.

That's where I would have to disagree. I won't name names, but over the years, a certain well known detailer has given me conflicting opinions on products which caused me to not bother asking him anything anymore. Also, on other forums, the majority of the reviews, etc. is for the house brands. Even in the pictures posted, the house brands seem to always be there somewhere, background, or even just on the bucket, which is just fine, they're in a business to sell, but that doesn't mean I'd take their word for it. I would trust the no name guy trying it out on their own and giving an honest review before I would an employee, and that goes for anything, not just detailing supplies.

I do know there were some bad batches over the years. The new UNO is a different animal

I had the chance to try one of the earlier versions of Uno and didn't have a good experience... I have yet to try anything from HD after that but they must have improved quite a bit based on the reviews that have been posted...

Are you cutting with 101? What type of polisher?

Woo horsey woo...The trusted figures I know who have tried the previous versions (pre speed, polish, ect) were not impressed at all.

Today or tomorrow when we get to a second step on this black sapphire mettalic, I do hope that 3Ds polish works as advertised. I was incorrect on my previous statement, I do have poxy that someone was kind enough to send me about a month ago. So we are hoping to use poxy as the LSP.

Thomas, if you could be so kind to give a run down on the use of polish to finish out on this sapphire black metallic M5, I would appreciate it. I have LC white, black, ect for pads.

In any case, HD POLISH: Speed 5, white pad after leveling, or even and orange pad. HD SPEED: Speed 4, black pad. HD POXY: any finishing pad, speed 3 or 4 on a pc type.

Yes cutting with 101 and a little d300, megs mf via dynabrade on a flex 3401 rotary. its actually looking very nice after, minimal marring.

We can use the DB setup or a GG polisher with polish.

I was going to say that the paint will look very good. I'd probably go with gray pad and polish and same for speed. HD POLISH will go a long way, same with SPEED

Thomas has been on this board a while. Look at his number of post. A function of this board is to give advice for Autopian's who ask for it. He does earn respect from me but so do a some other guys on this board. (Acc., Bence, etc) But the advice he gives is just a option you may choose. I am a HD lover with Poxy as being the best sealant I have ever tried. With that being said I love a good nuba. My Vintage gives my car a awesome look. Thomas and many many others are doing what this board is about, sharing ideas and experience.

You know what would be funny, if 3D sent BookemDano some samples. I'd be willing to bet he'd change his tune after trying the products. The fact is, by now, all the trusted figures that post here have all tried the line, and no one has complained, in fact, they have all loved the line. Does it have weaknesses? Sure, and 3D continues to work on resolving them, but the products are head of the pack as is, and keep getting better.

I've been really impressed with the HD line so far. Still on the fence about Uno, mostly because it dusts a bit much for my tastes but it otherwise does a good job. 3D Trim Protectant and Carpet Shampoo are excellent products, really like Poxy and my first use of Speed was impressive. Still use more Optimum than anything else, but now using as much 3D stuff as I do Meguiars products.

The best thing about a newcomer like 3D is they will push established brands to improve their products to try and get ahead meaning better products across the board for everyone.

I just did the latest "accumulation" with Uno as the primary correction product. It was dusting a *LOT* less than the M105 that I used when chasing down he residual RIDS.

Agreed. Doesn't finish as nice, but dusts far less than 105.

With the exception of flat black paint the previous UNO finished down awesome on all other colors for me. Now you have UNO to cut and follow with polish, so how UNO finishes shouldn't matter

I use it primarily as a mid-level polish, like Optimum Hyper Polish or #205, neither of which dust. When I need to cut hard, I go with #105 or OHC and expect some dusting.

well it matters for those certain paints that 105 can be used as a potential one stepper, while UNO maybe can't. I have a car coming up that I will try to do exactly that and see how it turns out.

I just said the older version was a true one stepper minus flat black.

Do you mean you will use 105 on flat black as a one stepper?

Or on a different color. Either way, you should always use a finishing pad at least with 105 after cutting and not just compound and wax. Leave that for the hacks! :D:D:D

PS: One can easily use UNO as a 1 stepper on all the other colors
