Rasky - how much Z/2 or Z/5 did you put in the bottle ? I read you put in 4 drops of ZFX catylst.
Zaino says 4-5 drops of ZFX for each ounce of their Polish, Z2 or Z5.
I never use more than 1/2 oz of either product to go around a vehicle 3 times, and I only put in 3 drops of ZFX to that 1/2 oz.
I use Z6 on the Zaino applicator many times until its wet enough to move easily, and have found out consistently that the 1st coat of either product is the hardest to get right, because the surface is clean, and the pad is not as damp as it will be say by 2nd-3rd coat.
After the 1st coat is on and removed, the other 2 go on way easier for me.
I even went to the trouble of buying some 1/2 oz plastic bottles and weighing them on an electronic scale empty and with product to be sure I was getting the chemicals right, and have had no problems.
I had an '05 Acura RL in beautiful Opulent Blue Pearl, and it had many coats of Z5 Z/2 before I turned it back in and it was easily the most beautiful car on the Acura Dealer's lot ! They sold it in like a few weeks. I dont have any more experience with that marque's paint but imagine the TSX is coming from the same place using the same basic paint, just different colors..
Good luck, let us know how it is going! The hood you did is beautiful !! Wow!!

I've posted my thoughts on Zaino not long ago on here. Zaino is very temperamental.
Last time I used Z2, I left it on for 15 hrs. It never dried. It was a PITA to remove. Yes, I applied it very lightly.
I never had the problem with the old non pro Zaino. The new Zanio looks very good along with Z8, but if I'm going to have to go through what I went through everytime I use Zaino, it's not worth it imo.
I may give it another try (one day) and see what happens before I write Zaino off.
On the rare occasion that I have streaking or all the Z2/5pro does not want to wipe clean....I use a nice soft MF dampened w/ water. I then follow with a WW drying towel.
Using Z6 or Z8 in this situation does not usually work as it has the same polymers that Z2/5pro contains.
I agree, though I want to be able to use it when customers request it.
FWIW, the Blackfire wiped off effortlessly and perfectly 5 minutes after applying.![]()
Maybe if you head over to the Zaino Forum they could solve your problem.
Good Luck!
Well the second coat came off pretty well again this morning. It Still looked like it needed to be followed up with Z6 or Z8 though. I'm going to try removing it with a Shamrock towel once since the Zealots seem to really like them...can't imagine that would really mater, but what the heck.
Does Zaino even have a forum? Or do you mean the Corvette forum?
Maybe, but I'm guessing it will be nothing new as I've read all the tips and tricks. I also don't like how people's first reaction is to assume the user has no clue what they are doing and I would be a new face over there.
A nice soft MF dampened with water and followed with a WW will take care of it.
Chad, Please explain what you mean by followed up with Z6 or Z8.
If the paint appears to be streaky or all the product does not completely wipe off, DO NOT use Z6 or Z8. A nice soft MF dampened with water and followed with a WW will take care of it.
80% of the time that I have helped folks with Zaino, it is user error... That other 20% of the time....Zaino is just not the answer for some people. Out of the 150 or so cars I have applied Zaino to in the last 4 years, I can count on one hand paint/cars that I have had issues with.
I used the Z6 after wiping off the Z2/Z5 for two reasons.
1. The Zaino site says too
2. There was light smearing/streaking, and the Z6 cleared it up. I only saw the streaking with my brinkmann, but could not see it under the shop lights.
From the Zaino tips/tricks
4. After buffing, spray the car with a light mist of Z-6 Ultra Clean? Gloss Enhancer Spray detailing spray. Z-6 will help buff away any remaining residue and enhances the brightness of the finish. Using Z-6, the next coat of Zaino Show Car Polish will apply even easier.
The way that reads, or at least the way I infer it, is that slight smearing is just normal...no?
I'm hoping it's just the 20% thing, because I honestly can't see what I could be doing wrong. You can see in the pics above that it is applied super thin. What I don't get is that I can use ZAIO with no issues at all. Comes off great.
What they mean on the zaino site by "remaining residue" is remaining cured or dry residue. Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see any reference to removing streaky residue by using Z6.
Use water, its free.
the only Zaino product I have ever used is Z-AIO.
I've used the entire Zaino line or projects. The important thing to remember is that 1/4 to 1/2 ounce will cover the whole car. THIN is IN!!!
I used an entire ounce for three applications, is that too little or too much?
