Zaino-CP Today.

Intercooled

I used the new Zaino CP Fusion today. I must say that the smell was absolutely intoxicating

I started with an LC white pad and started at a speed of 4 and ran it up to 6. I did a small area then inspected my work with a drop light. I was frightened at first because it seemed I was really marring the hell out of the paint. I then tried more product and less prioduct. I tried slower speed and faster speed. I used more pressure and less pressure. I then changed to a finishing pad. Still lots of what looked like marring and ulra fine scratches.

Ok...I called Sal. He was great and very patient as we conversed about my situation. He seems to think that it was just byproduct results. He asked me to try some Z2 Pro in a small area over the problem and to see if it would level it out. It did. Knowing that Z2 Pro doesn't contain any fillers I was a bit astonished.

:idea Putting some thought into what might be the case...Most, if not all products have some fillers and oils. The ZCP contains none and it stripped away everything revealing a TRUE bare clear coat finish. Revealing what i probably havn't seen before.

So i completed the whole car and am now working on my final coats of Z5 and Z2.

The ZCP was very easy to work with and the abrasives diminshed quickly. I did get some dusting but nothing terrible. it removed most minor imperfections and water spots. The finish was squeeky clean and glossy.

I'm still a bit con fused about the marring that occured but it seems the Z5/Z2 have taken care of it!

I would like to here from others who are using it and what thier results are!!

So far everything is looking great and continue to love Zaino! :woohoo:

I'll post pics when I'm done.

"Nothing like getting immediate info from the true source of a product." Sal

Intercooled, did you try a terry cloth test to see if this problem could be rectified by manual means?

Just curious. :D

On my black Z28 during testing I did discover a difference in results between brands of pads. My best results by PC were obtained with LC polishing pads. Second best with Exceldetail's blue polishing and still good results but not as good as previously mentioned pads Meg's polishing pads.

On the my white Escalade and son's white Mazda 6, I noticed no difference in performance between pads.

My speed of PC operation is usually between 4 and 5.

Did you try spritzing the pad with Z6 or water to increase flash time. Spritzing allows the abrasives to "work" a little longer (completely diminish). I found this very important when working outsides with any water-based product. Spritzing definitely decreases the minor dust production of Z-PC.

Keep us up-dated and thanks for the initial review. :wavey

Sounds like those ULTRA intelligent abrasives aren't that ULTRA intelligent, or even regular-intelligent after all...

Blk Z,

I did exactly everything that you mentioned above. I used LC black finishing pad as well. I even tried to apply the Z-CP by hand and still got marring. Again I kind of lean towards the theory that all the "other" products that I have been using have been filling and everything always looked hunky dorry before my LSP application. Now with a true water based non filler product I am seeing a true clear coat that has scratches and inperfections that just is enevitable. All seems ok now after the application of

2x Z5

1xZ2 Pro

and a final application of Z8

But I'll check in full sunlight this weekend to "really" see whats going on.

That theory should be easy enough to test with an isopropanol wipe-down. It's kind of interesting how the Z2-pro took care of the problem. I used a Sonus orange power pad with Z-PC and didn't notice any marring in particular, but then again I was doing my parents' minivan which had a fair number of swirls to begin with.

is it possible that some of the newer type of abrasives aren't able to completely break down with a PC? maybe a rotary would work better-especially on a dark color
