Zaino , Big Thumbs Down !

So true.

IMO Wolfgang 3.0 is a better product on any colour;

-It has more warmth then Zaino.

-Against non ZFX'd Zaino it will last longer, and do about 4 Months in mixed London weather.

- Easier application.

- easier removal.

-You can use an oil based glaze under Wolfgang sealant, this allows for you to mix up the ulimate finish you can get. IE: RMG for more metalic pop, YMW for extreme depth and wetness.

Just my thoughts. I have Zaino products, i use them, its nice to have lots of options and get them out every now and then. But unless something new comes out i wont go back to get more Z5 or Z2.

ZAIO is a cracking looking all in one IMO and worth the money!

Geoff

This is jmo, but I thought ZAIO gave my car the same look alone as it did topping with Z5 and Z2. Some people believe they need to buy the whole Z-PKG.

While the whole Zaino line is good together. ZAIO looks great by itself, and in a sealant test last year, it lasted 4 or so months (in very extreme conditions) along with Z2, Z5, jetseal109, Klasse, Wolfgang DGPS, and a few others.

SAL ZAINO IS THE GOD OF LSP ! ! !
:bow:tribe:

Seriously, David??? :nono

You know as well as anyone else that Sal Zaino is just a mythical name/character created to cause mass-hysteria in the car care industry. He's a figure much like the Lockness Monster or Big Foot...people always seem to have these "encounters" with him, but no one has ever really seen or met him.

Oh, well. As long as unsuspecting (victims) people keep purchasing the products, that's all that really matters.

That's right, I've gone silly.

Seeing that there are waxes selling for $1,100, $500, $250 $100 and $50 and so on, I always thought $16.95 for a bottle of Zaino was an excellent value for your money. And the product produces excellent results, atleast in the 7 years I have used it. My customers never complained.

A lot has to do with prep of the finish. Zaino is very clear and will show defects like there's no tomorrow if just using Z2.

Like all LSP's no matter if it's Zaino, Woldgag opps sorry Wolfgang (I do have some), Optimum, Meguiars etc etc it boils down to how well the finish looks W/O an LSP.

Remember, you just "protected" a finish and added some gloss, but no LSP will do the "NU-FINISH" trick and make a perfect looking deep shine w/o polishing first.

Polish until the paint is glossy on it's own, then add whichever LSP you want. Make sure all oils from polishing is off the paint, then apply your sealant.

Zaino can be a PITA if humid or applied too thick. It should be hard to see where you applied it, THAT THIN! Once cured, Z6 between each coat. Do only 3 coats a day.

If you're unhappy, try another sealant until you find the one that looks good to your eye. Some will go so far as using a sealant then later topping it with a wax to add depth or warmth. It's all about what looks good for you!

Regards,

Deanski

The reflective/plastic look is tacky to me, it goes along with super greasy tire shine IMO.

Well, that is a matter of opinion. I think Zaino looks like a layer of glass-even on less than perfect paint. Some may like the look and some may prefer a dipped in olive oil look that washes away after a couple washes. It's all a matter of preferrence.

AFWIW, I think Sal Zaino doesn't exist and never did exist. I think he is the ficticious brainchild of a rich NY advertising executive:nervous2:

There is definately a point at which a car looks overprocessed. Usually when the paint has been highly polished and oiled up so it looks wetter than OEM paint does etc.

But without different consumer desires there would be very little aftermarket business.

actually the wetter than OEM paint look, is what I try to achieve. Otherwise I would just wax 3-4 times a year to protect.

This is Autopia...........:buffing::buffing::buffing::buffing:

Yeah, but how many people just buy the $16.95 bottle? Every Zaino detail seems to involve multiple coats of pretty much any alphanumerical combo of anything starting with a Z. Combined with how difficult it can be, and the 'offness' of Sal at times, it's no wonder why people get turned off of it. And I didn't even touch on the fanboy-like devotion that the users seem to have - much along the lines of Seafoam.

What other products people purchase doesn't have anything to do with the fact that Z2 or Z5 are stand alone products. You don't have to buy any of the other Z products. Nobody's holding a bottle of ZXX to your head. People like supporting Zaino not only because they are great products, but Sal is a very knowledgeable person and is very inspiring. I guess people also feel that Sal offers something very personable over the other manufacturers/vendors out there. That's probably why he chooses to not mass market his line with suppliers. I was totally turned off by the Z heads until I personally talked to Sal on the phone. My views of him and his product changed 180 degrees after that.

I will admit its very time consuming. But if you spend the time and prep, the results should be very good. Plus, detailing you car is time consuming no matter what, if this stuff was easy everyone would be doing it. I am fairly new to detailing and Zaino in my opinion is very easy to use with amazing results. I use Zaino on a silver and a black car with great results. But you do have to take the time to apply it correctly. I am sure there are better and easier products out there to use, but I agree, Sal has answered and help me anytime that help was needed. With someone with his willingness to help, its hard for me not to support the product. Just my 2 cents.

As you experienced, it's all about the perception. Kudos to him for having a product a lot of people believe in, and apparently get good support by.

If I got sent it, I would certainly give it a shot. But it's not something I'll be looking to purchase.

Agree, Zaino sucks: No depth, No wetness, No shine, No durability.
