Your Dream Wax

Thanks for the continued feedback...... We have spent the money to buy a reasonable assortment of Zymol and to be able to compare them side by side, and I think we have pretty much every other major players wax on the market to compare to as well. Waxes are a funny topic, everyone has their own favorite, and it's one of the few products that you really can make a difference with as a detailer. Use the best of everything and then an average wax and you'll get an OK result. Of course on the flip side, if you dont do your prep work a good wax wont save you either.

One of the techs here wanted to make a mold so we can make 16oz bricks of pure carnauba as paper weights for a desk. I thought that was a pretty neat idea. :)

the bottom line is marketing. Zymol has great marketing. Perception is reality. I read about a marketing test that a glass company did. They told their customers that wine tasted better in their specially shaped glasses. They then had the customers take a taste test from their glass and competiors glasses. The customers chose the specially shaped glasses over the competiors glasses. Marketing is mostly mind games.

Great point man

but you cant overlook a great product regardless of the advertising. Guys give us somthing that works just as good on light as it does on dark. As good on a metallic paint as it does on a nice solid black vehicle. If someone could do that then 50 bucks a tin wouldnt seem like a bad deal if it delivered. Just seems like there are so many great products but none of them will do everything.

Just my .02

you first must understand that the color is perceived by what light is reflected back to the eye. Putting a perfectly clear coat of wax on the car would have no change. If the wax is tinted a bit it will affect the way the light reflects to the eye and what the color is perceived to be. That is why 2 waxes will produce slightly different results. Any wax will work on any color but one may look better than another. It's all indiviual perception.

I'd shoot for something that offers incredible depth and gloss. Durability isn't a huge thing with me -- I enjoy waxing my cars too much!

Definitely keep me in the loop. I'd be glad to demo the product, and give you my non-scientific feedback!

Don't use wax much anymore but I would if a yellow carnauba wax with the best depth and wetness and incredible durability/water spot prevention qualities without attracting dust or reducing slickness

Something revolutionary.

Two types - a carnauba jett like spray on and wipe on.

How about one where you just leave it and it slowly dissappears so there is no removal

No more buffing hey.

I believe the advertisement for tester’s maybe a joke. Has anyone received an invitation?

Pin. Souveran or 5050 with some more gloss and depth if possible, maybe a mix of Ps and the old Pin. Glaz. Maybe Like PS with a pure polish meg #81 built in. Something that looks extremely wet, deep, with a life of one month. Waxing does not bother me. I will be glad to be a testor for you.

Hard wax certainly is far from the pinnacle of a cool product, but it's far from a dinosaur. Still, it's far from being replaced at all. Sealers are great to apply twice a year. Good protection, but a sealer lacks the shine. Wax is still the final touch that makes you go "Damn, that looks great".

Kind of a hard thing to ask. I LOVE JW products and they give me the shine I like. Tried Nattys Blue and did not look any better. MIGHT try CG 5050 wax for a try...Then again I use JW Pime and AJT 4 times a year...:)

A sealer lacks the shine? Ahh, have you heard of Zaino? Name the wax the will

outshine zaino sealant? Especially, after one car wash..

I have heard of Zaino, once or twice. :) Are you referring to the Grand Finale? I consider a sealer something that goes under the car wax, or standalone, but will last 3-6 months. Grand Finale lasts as long as a quick detail spray, and of course costs substantially more. It does have an impecable gloss , that which I would not argue, but I wouldn't classify it as a sealer in the typical terms of being a multi-month protectant.

Hmm.. you're thinking of making a super wax and know nothing about zaino? :-) Search

zaino in this forum or via google and you'll quickly learn more about zaino. :-) Check

out Zaino Store for their sealants (z2pro, z5pro, etc.). when it comes to durability and shininess, zaino is the benchmark. That's how you know how good their sealants are. Using Zymol is a total waste of time, IMHO. Not to mention carnauba will turn your clearcoat yellow overtime. People call this a muted look. :-) I agree with DavidB, man made synthetic wax has finally caught up and carnauba is a dianosaur now. :-)

jedi force, can you explain how carnauba wax will turn a clear coat ''yellow'' overtime? And, do you think this is true of ''all'' carnauba waxes,or just ''certain'' brands?

I am pretty sure he was being sarcastic about only hearing of Zaino twice.

And I would also like to know what carnaubas you are using that turned clearcoat yellow.

Not to be disrespectful or anything but you sort of sound like one of those guys that refuse to try anything other than the products you currently use. I don't have a problem with that at all, if they work for you great. However, I would not call a product the benchmark until I have used them all or at least a lot of them.

A correctly preped car, a coat of Pinnacle XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze, a coat of Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax then see what a wax will do!!! Or use CG 5050.
