Well, I'm fianlly going to tackle my swirls and scratches tomorrow. I went to Lowes and purchased a 1000W light to make sure that I don't miss anything. :p I can't believe that I actually purchased a 1000W light. :D

I'll be using the orange pad for the 1Z, white pad for AIO then gray for NXT then apply PS by hand. I hope this works. I think I've read just about every post concerning a PC so I hope that I will get all these pesky swirls out. Wish me luck.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll do fine. I'm in the same boat as you with swirls and scratches. Finally decided on going with the PC 7424 and 1Z polishes. I know I'll be pleased with the results. Afterall, we've got some very talented and knowledgable folks here that really know their stuff.

Thanks. If I wouldn't have found this site, I would not have the knowledge that I do now about detailing. Of course there's no way that I would have the CONFIDENCE of actually using a PC on my Z. :xyxthumbs

Once you go PC, you'll never go back!

Have fun. :D

:D LOL!! I'm using 1Z Paint Polish

I'm always having fun when I'm detailing. It's like, I'm at peace with the Universe when I have a clean Z. :p :p

Before you apply PS why not wait a week or so and throw on another NXT .. from the results I am getting you may not need the PS. And if you apply PS it might have to come off should you decide to go with more NXT.

See my post on NXT on a Cavallier .. This car was swirled bad and it came up great. And I'm going over to see it today as they say NXT even looks better day 2.

I am right there with you BlueDragon...supposed to be in the 50's next week, here in Minnesota, so I will get to break out my new PC. CAN'T WAIT!

But, I think I speak for the group when I say "PICS!!!!"

lets see 'em when you are done!

I am so antsy to try my new 7424 and the Menzerna twins. I just made another order for more pads and some other things before I've even used it yet! I think I've got a few more weeks though. Might try on one of my parents cars first. :D

I got the Menzerna pad/starter kit from CMA. I ordered the additional ones from CMA too. I like the idea of the side protection.

Nadir, Detailers Paradise is having a good sale right now.

The pads that I got came from Autopia. I only have one set of pads so hopefully this will be enough.

Jesstzn, Based on my most recent detail (see my post on it) PS over NXT had a big difference. Since PS doesn't last very well anyway, I should be able to just put NXT when I need to.

Good luck with the first run on the PC. I am actually going to purchase the PC 7424 from CoastalTool tomorrow. What are the pads I should be purchasing and where should I get them. I will be using the PC to remove swirls from my black Truck.

Thanks.

The PC that I got was from Autopia. The whole kit came with the backing plates and three pads. An orange pad, white & gray. Of course these just happen to work out becasue it's all that I needed since I just needed something to work on minor swirls and apply wax. It depends on what type work you're trying to complete. Some people suggested to purchase additional pads just in case I need them. I was going to but I only had a chance to buy one thing this month. It's either new pads or my first mod for my Z. I went with the mod and keeping my fingers crossed that I won't need additional pads.

Good luck! I'll probably be purchasing a PC7336SP (comes with 6"counterweight) from Detailers Paradise along a 5" backing plate, 2 polishing and 2 cutting pads (since they're on sale). I can't wait to start some detailing!

You won't need luck with the PC...it's that great of a machine. Just relax and enjoy what you are doing...the PC will do the rest.:xyxthumbs

I feel like a little kid that's waiting to open Cristmas presents. :)

Eight hours and counting down........

That was like me .. then it showed up and I had to wait 3 more months for spring.

Well, I'm happy to report that my first PC experience is a very good one. :up :up

I started with a Dawn wash, dried with CWB and WW. I was surprised that after the I rinsed the car was still sheating water. After I got her completely dry, I clay bar with Clay Magic. I sprayed a panel and clayed then wipe off with a WW. I've nevcer tried this way before. I think it was Scottwax' post that I read on how to do it this way, THANKS.

I used the 1Z firston the Orange Pad surrounding the pad with the product. I found out later on that this was too much. Ok I'm starting to learn something. Then, :scared I didn't break it down long enough so when I wiped off the residue it left a HAZE on the paint. So I figure I need to buff it longer, which I did. I buffed it out then wiped off the residue :up ,Whew. It buffed out real good. proceeded to apply AIO with the White Pad, again :up . So far so good. Then I finished the panel with the Grey Pad with NXT. FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!! :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs Unfortunately I pressed for time so I was only able to finish the back bumper and hatch. I had a couple of hours on Saturday to finish applying 1Z to the rest of the car. I actually managed to remove at leat 90% of the scratches/swirls. The rest I would have to go back to with a much aggresive pad/product. I took some pics but unfortunately they're not digital pics so I have to wait until I get them developed. With just the 1Z, I did notice the difference in the paint's clarity along with it's swirl removal property. After work today I will be finishing it up with the AIO and NXT.

So, THANK'S to everyone that posted tricks and tips on the PROPER PC USAGE, it helped me a great deal. I do have some new questions though.

Since I'm unable to get some of these scratches off, is the yellow pad a more aggresive pad? If not what pad/product should I use?

On some of the panels, I was having a hard time buffing it because the pad is just too big, where can I find smaller pads?

BlueDragonZ, I would use the yellow pad (cutting pad) with PP for your scratches. If after your first pass, you are not satisfied with the finish, do another pass.

As far as smaller pads, detailersparadise have the smaller pads on sale.
