Whole house water filter & softener systems

The info you guys gathered on the water was good! I work for the water department where I live. Even though we have regulations on the plant effluent that the EPA monitors. There are times because of weather conditions that some is not treated. For example, heavy rains, power outages, spring snow melting and rain together. The EPA is tightening the rules on run off,and what's going down the drains. It's headed east from California. I'm still mobile and watch very carefully where my run off is going. All car wash owners, mobile detailers and washers, and fixed locations need to be aware of the ever changing laws. The fines are huge. They can put you out of business. Check with your local municipalites to be safe and sure you can't be fined. Most cites in the US already have the laws, they are just not inforced.

For mobile guys, and people without floor drains, I guess the catch-mats are gonna be the solution...something for another thread some time.....

Something like this is the future

Bunky- Yeah, that looks like what I was thinking about. But then you still gotta suck up the water and dispose of it somehow

[Accumulator thanks his lucky stars for his particular situation...]

I had a whole house water conditioner installed when I built. Primarily due to our acidic water. This required a neutrlizer ahead of a softner. Thought I was set! Started getting UNREMOVABLE water spots. Rather clear looking. Found out that I have Silica in the water. Now only use a portable de-ionizer behind the softner. Just a word of caution for those around decompozed granite soil!

Thanks for that info, Mr. Picky. I had no idea that silica could be found in water. If I may, how did you find out that you had silica in your water? What region of the country do you live in?
