I am going to be buying a PC7424 here soon and was wondering which pad system (hook and loop backing plate or The Edge quick connect) would be better for someone who is a beginner with a PC 7424.
Thanks

when I had a Cyclo and a PC by having the hook and loop I could use the same 4" pads for either machine.
When speaking of variety if you mean a broader choice of available brands then this statement is true. That said, there isn't anything I can't accomplish using Edge's system compared to any other brand or collection of brands. They have the spectrum covered well. I will concede you are locked in to the price of Edge pads but I haven't found that to be a problem.Hook and loop is definitely the way to go IMO. Like JP said, hook and loop gives you a much larger variety of pads.
I don't use the Edge system either, but they sure have a nice range of wool pads that I wish the hook & loop guys would offer...... in fact I'm tempted to get the Edge system just for the variety of wool pads to use on my rotary.......... there isn't anything I can't accomplish using Edge's system compared to any other brand or collection of brands. They have the spectrum covered well..........
I prefer the Lake Country pads ... they have some great kits including the pc at Detail City - Auto Detailing Supplies & Car Care Products and at We Are Car Care -- Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detailing Supplies, Car Buffers & Car Accessories Store ...![]()
I am going to go with the 5.5" Lake Country Pads. Thanks for the quick responses.
Ya done good! You'll like that kit. There are a lot of Random Orbital Polishers on the market but the standard everyone compares their polisher to is the Porter Cable.Yeah I got this kit: Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Polisher & 5.5" CCS Foam Pad Kit - Specials & Closeouts
seemed like it was a pretty good kit to me.
