Which Pad system?

I am going to be buying a PC7424 here soon and was wondering which pad system (hook and loop backing plate or The Edge quick connect) would be better for someone who is a beginner with a PC 7424.
Thanks

I have to go with the hook and loop pads. Some of the early pads had some issues but the pads that I have now work very well for me no matter the size.

I have to agree with the hook and loop system. Something about the Edge quick connect has always scared me - although that's probably just unfounded fear and reluctance to change. I am sure either way would work, but for me when I had a Cyclo and a PC by having the hook and loop I could use the same 4" pads for either machine.

I don't guess there's really a downside to either choice, other than the fact if you get the Edge system, you are really locked into using edge pads.

I'm the odd man out, Edge system for me. I have many (maybe 60) LC and Meguiar's pads but they haven't been used since I began using Edge's system.

Hook and loop is definitely the way to go IMO. Like JP said, hook and loop gives you a much larger variety of pads.

When speaking of variety if you mean a broader choice of available brands then this statement is true. That said, there isn't anything I can't accomplish using Edge's system compared to any other brand or collection of brands. They have the spectrum covered well. I will concede you are locked in to the price of Edge pads but I haven't found that to be a problem.

4" and 5.5" Lake Country pads is what I use. The Edge pads look interesting but I get the results I want with current pads, and rather spend money on other things. That is the only reason I have not tried the Edge system

I don't use the Edge system either, but they sure have a nice range of wool pads that I wish the hook & loop guys would offer...... in fact I'm tempted to get the Edge system just for the variety of wool pads to use on my rotary.

The triangular edges have always bugged me about the bigger Edge foam pads. I like to be able to see where the outside edge of the pad is that is in contact with the surface especially when I'm buffing up to edges.

I do love the always centered feature and I like the idea of being able to use both sides. If the 6" foam pads were a little thinner and wider 6.5" or 7" I would probably be more apt to use them. I would also like to see them come out with an 8" pad without the triangular edge. I think it would be a big seller.

Having said all that, if you use mostly wool pads on a rotary then the Edge pads can't be beat.

I know, I know. Why doesn't Detail City sell Edge wool pads? Very good question. I think I need to make a phone call.
