Wheel about fell off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Story...
So I drop off a car at a local Good Year here to have the tires balanced and rotated. (2000 Mercedes C230 Kompressor) I get a call to come pick it up, ok. I head down there and it is sitting in the parking lot in front of the building. I go in, sign the papers, get the keys, and head out.

Get in the car, open all the windows and sunroof. Take off down the road. The steering wheel starts VIOLENTLY shaking back and forth. SO bad I can barely hold it. I slow down and turn into an empty lot. While turning, I am hearing metal hitting th pavement and loud clunking. So I get out and look at the back wheel, then around the back to the passenger side, around the front to the drivers side, and BAM....the wheel is cocked in......WAY IN. It was held on by ONE LUG NUT..(actually they are bolts on the Benz)
The Wheel almost fell off
The wheel almost fell off
The wheel almost fell off
The wheel almost fell Fing off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last lug nut on was VERY LOOSE. So I roll the windows up, lock the car, and walk back to Good Year....about 3 blocks. Oh, I was picking up the lug nut(bolts) along the way. I walk in, slam the bolts on the counter, and ask who is going to walk to the car and put them back on. LMAO

Everyone in the lobby is starring....HAHAHA
The retard did not tighten the bolts on the back either, and I was able to unscrew them with my hand. Oh I was pissed.

I was all handled, with a million "I'm sorries"
They would be if the wheel actually came all the way off. Very expensive.

How hard is it to tighten lug nuts. I guess that tire guy missed that day in tire changing class.....The day they learned to tighten lug nuts...he was home sick...go figure.....

Geez dude, who's mirror did you break?

Storys like this and the thread of the "jiffy lube" make me nervous.

Aww Hell NaW! I used to work for firestone as an MTS and the happened to one of my noobies! but the guy called us and told us where he was at and my tech drove down there with a jack. Luckly no studs were messed up.

Glad you weren't hurt. Or the baby!

YIKES!!!! That could have been a very very expensive screw up. The tire shop i use actually has to have two guys double check the lugs nuts before they will sign off and they use torque wrenches along with charts to make sure they get it right. then i re tighten them after 50 miles of driving and then recheck them again 100 miles later. Glad to hear things were not worse.

The same thing happened to me a year and a half ago at Firestone. The lug nuts were finger tight. I was so pissed... they offered to give me a bunch of free oil changes and I asked them what made them think I would ever bring my car back to them again? lol Morons.... Glad nobody was hurt.

Your story reminds me of the one Ron White tells in his stand up bit. I'm actually about 90% sure you used some of it. It's ok, I won't tell. I'm sorry that it happened to you too, but I'm happy it wasn't your car. It's amazing how careless someone can be with anothers property.

This is the reason i do everything that i possibly can, myself. If i don't have the tools needed to do it, i go and buy them.

If i have to bring it in, i only bring it to the dealership i bought it from.

And I don't even really trust the dealership, at that! :boot

Stuff happens. You have never made a mistake at work? Happens to all of us. I did it once when I was in the dealership, thank god the wheel didn't come off.

Yep, Ron White is funny as heck. I had to use some of his stuff...LOL...
When it happend, that was all I thought about, what he said. It fits just right here. Perfect for the occasion. LOL

I'm not as funny to make up stuff. Had to throw some laughter in there.:D

This is reason I watch these guys like a hawk...Luck for tire place as 97 F150 said that could have been a expensive mistake....those cars are not cheap to work on....
