The biggest complaint I've had with the original OCW that it lacked a certain immediacy. It looked good after curing but the initial look was lacking something. This could be remedied using a DA when applying the OCW, because the carnauba in it gets more gloss with the machine application, but we are using a spray product because of its ease, right?
For me OCW performed very well, especially layered. It has a great operation window (0°C - 40°C for me), and it provides a handsome look.
However, the beading characteristics and the slickness were two further points where I felt that the product could have been improved. The slickness was reasonable but nothing to write home about, and the beading was a bit strange. It beaded with small quite irregular beads, but somehow I love the more uniform, tall beading (to tell the truth, I love the unprotected full-surface sheeting the best, because this gives a totally spot-free finish).
Now Optimum included me as a beta tester and a batch of the OCW II is sitting here on my desk. After trying it a few times, I can say that all the mentioned "problems" were issued. It looks wetter than the original, more hydrophobic, significantly slicker and about as easy to apply. I need more experience with it to tell how it looks on an unprepped/poorly prepped surface (to see the immediacy of the look), but on Menzerna PO85RE5-, Poli-Seal-, Scholl Concepts S40-prepped finishes it looks excellent. Initial slickness & appearance is also outstanding and after curing it will be even better.
Its beading characteritics is also improved. It produces wonderful little pearls now, with highly optimized contact angles. I'll experiment a lot more to find out more on its compatibility, layerability, cooperation with machines and of course, durability.
Scottwax is a beta tester too, so he can chime in with his experiences as well.
PS: I waxed the two 1:18 model cars on my desk with it and I often find myself "wiping & dusting" them with a thin suede MF to feel the great slickness... Does that say something?
