What do you wipe your glass down with?

Out of curiosity, what do you use to wipe down your glass with?

I've heard of trying (or have used):

Newspaper

Paper towels

Terrycloth towels

Red shop rags

Rags In A Box (kinda like a thicker version of paper towels, but with a low lint)

MF Towels

So far, the only thing that I've found that does a decent job (for me, anyway) is a MF towel, but it got me to thinking, "Maybe there's something else out there that I haven't tried yet that works better! Let me ask people on the forums!"

So...What do you use? What have you found that works, and why?

newspaper works well with vinegar, but its awkward to use, imo.

for serious glass cleaning, i use a mf that is damp with hot water and then follow up with a very clean, very dry terry cloth towel. i HATE the micro lint that MF leaves behind, and terry often has cutting action to really pick up the streaks that MF often cannot get.

Pakshak Yellow/Black MF towel x 2

One towel with spreading side, other with drying side

An alternative to traditional cleaning methods is to take your normal or unused paint polish with a 4" orange pad and hand applicator and apply to the window. The orange pad will quickly remove dirt, the polish will leave a smooth water proof surface. I follow up with IG applied with an MF towel to reduce the shine. The MF with IG doesn't grab if I use a polish first. Might be a good way to get rid of the polishes you don't like.

I suppose the orange pad would work with the IG but I haven't tried it.

If the windows are really dirty I start with the blue paper shop towels and IG (no sense in filling up the MF w/ dirt ). For final wipe down I use Cobra WW MF glass towel. Put a spritz of distilled water or 50/50 IPA on on one side, wipe, turn over to dry side and buff. Works great for me !

My process for glass is Invisible Glass, wipe down the majority with one MF glass towel, then come back with a second MF glass towel. As far as pressure on the second wipe down, I don't even push down on it. I just let it glide across, it gets everything, and I never have seen any streaks on mine or any windows I have cleaned.

I'm still looking for the perfect solution, but the closest I've found is S&W + MF towel. Lightly mist the towel and go at it. I move up/down on interior windows and side-side on exterior glass - that way I know where the streaks are. :)

For heavier work, I've used a clay bar and paint polishes, including IP and SSR2. Zaino glass polish is also pretty effective on all but the harshest spotting/etching.

Danase glass cleaning towels. I still use IG for inside car windows, but around the house I use ONR QD. These towels are so good I can probably sneeze on the windows and they would still come out spotless. They grab more than a regular MF, which takes some getting used to, but they never lint and are not prone to streaking. After a few washings all plush MF towels shed lint for me.

My windows and beer glasses have never been cleaner!

I have been on a quest for years to find the perfect formula.

Invisible Glass from Stoner and a Cobra windshield MF towel.

there is nothing, NOTHING better out there in my opinion. They don't pay me to say that.....I have probably tried 20 or 30 different window products over the years, and I'm really happy that there is one product in my detailing regimen that I never have to worry about changing....

Clearkote's Quikshine and 16 x 16 MF towels. I get compliments all the time on the glass, including how QS makes the water fly off the windshield when driving.

Doc, these look very similar to just regular ole WW drying towels. Is there really any difference?

They do have a different feel, not as soft which helps to clean the glass better.
