I missed this, before. What electric have you been using? No matter, here's what to do:

Increase the blade setting from the lowest to the highest (1) is low on my Norelco, and (9) is the highest. "Lowest" means closest to the face, "Highest" means farthest away from the face. Carefully swipe the neck in vertical strokes. After the toughest hairs are cut, then put the shaver back on the "lowest" setting. Repeat swiping your neck until clean. This will reduce a lot of the pain.

What's happening is the low setting is cutting into your skin as it tries to pull that long hair out - there isn't enough room to grab hold of it properly, so it pulls. OUCH. Raising the setting gives the shaver more "air" to grab hold of the longer hair. The pain is reduced (but not eliminated). Stroke gently; you'll get the hang of it after awhile.

I use a Mach 3 turbo with Neutrogena Men skin clearing shave cream. This stuff helps reducebreak outs after shaving,........its pretty good. When I am done shaving I put on some Nivea for men mild after shave balm. I find this to be a great combo. These products are a little more expensive though.

this is my exact routine, i go back and forth with the neutrogena and gel with aloe for sensitive skin, i also shave after showering so it softens up the beard and ads moisture, but no matter what i use i still have irritated skin .for me its better to against the grain, it creates less drag and irrritation on the face.

I use a mug, brush and a bar of shaving soap too. Started using this method when I started realizing how much waste there is in packaging, as well as when I though of the types of propellant etc. that make the empty cans need to be "disposed of properly." With the bar, all you have to dispose of is either a little cardboard box or even only a paper wrapper.
Gels seemed to clog the blades faster than creams or soap.
Also, I just haven't been able to get a nice shave from an electric razor. Admittedly, I've tried only about 3 or 4 models, but it's kind of expensive to experiment with them, and I seem to be able to get by with a safety razor well enough. :)

I didn't realize there was so much involved in getting rid of facial hair..LOL
As long as I don't hack up my handle bar stash, I'm ok

Expensive but I love their stuff.

:bow :bow Art of Shaving creams, etc. are absolutely the best, but very expensive. I tried one of their shaving creams once and was very impressed. Definitely seemed to get a closer shave with it along with less irritation.

I was also in Las Vegas last spring and got a straight razor shave in the Art of Shaving shop. While it was very odd to have another person shave me, it was by far the best/closest shave I have ever had.

Norelco seems to work the best for me. I've tried a lot of different razors, both blade and electric and the convenience of electric won me over. I like easy.:)
As far as trying different razors, Norelco has a 30 day trial period. If you aren't happy with the razor you buy, you can return it in 30 days. I would almost bet that some of the other razor manufacturers have the same deal.

Awesome! LOL I We stayed at Mandalay Bay last month and I had a field day in that store! I wanted to get a shave there but it was a little pricey and I already spent enough in there! LOL

I wash twice daily with Menscience Soap-Free Daily Face Wash
http://www.menessentials.com/oxid.p...c8f0.12772333/anid/65e4151f20fee2614.05612192

I shower in the morning and shave afterwards (soft hairs and skin, open pores after the warm steam/water).

Twice a week, I will use California North's Gelskin Scrub after cleansing. It helps a lot with dry, dead skin, ingrown hairs, deep blackheads, etc.

When I get out of the shower, I pat dry and apply Baxter of California's Shave Formula generously.

I allow it to set for AT LEAST 1 minute. 2-3 minutes is optimal. I then go back with my Mach III Turbo razor and shave WITH the grain starting on the sides of my face and ending last with under my chin. Go over the area twice if needed; rinse the razor frequently with warm water; follow up with the Menscience Cleanser.

Finally I will use Proactiv Toner via a cotton pad followed by Sharp's Daily Prep Oil Free Lotion with SPF 15.

I haven't had razor burn or ingrown hairs in as long as I can remember.

Any questions, feel free.

Schick Quatro after I get out of the shower. I will use either a gillette shave gel or gilllette shaving cream (sensitive skin) depending upon how long I've let go by since last shave (which is determined by what time I wake up in the morning...if I have time) :D.

I may switch up eventually though. I kinda wanted to try that old school looking one from the first time I saw Sean post it up. This one: http://www.menessentials.com/oxid.p...etails/cnid/-/anid/84042b9822c03a4a6.55256970

Do many barbershops still offer a shave?
Not many that I've seen lately. I saw two in Las Vegas. AoS in Mandalay Bay and another shaving shop who's name escapes me in the new section of the Caesar's mall.

When I lived in FL there used to be a barbershop in Kendall near where my apartment was that offered straight razor shaves. It was right next to Star's Chicken Kitchen.

I close my eyes and use the braille method. Feeling where the facial hair remains. When finished in the shower I go to the mirror to finish the final trim.

that's exactly what i do. works good for me. hey fuzz that back hair shaver would worry me. imagine the blood leaking from a razor cut on your back? :censored:

i have a thick beard that NEEDS to be shaved daily. ive used the mach3 blades but after about a week of shaving my face gets irritaded and causes me to break out. i dont shave againts the grain, but rather i shave in the direction of the hair. ive switched a couple times with the sensor excel a couple times but i get the same irritation. have tried many different shaving creams but like i said, after a while i just need something new.

ive recently been using an electric shaver on my face and the mach3 on my neck. the machine really destroys my neck if i use it there.

what are u guys, some ladys (lol) using?

Same thing here.
I can only use the Mach3 and it irritates my skin that day if I don't take it easy, now I only use it 1 or 2 times a week. The best electric I had was a cheap Remington without the 3 disks cutter those destroyed my neck. Now I have a top of the line Braun and it’s nice that it cleans it self, but I don't think it is as good.

Guess i'm one of few who don't shave here. I'm rocking the beard look. I use a mach 3 and a conair trimmer to keep it straight.
