What did you do detailing wise today?

Washed the wife's car in prep for finishing it up tomorrow...

Products used

  • Cleaned trim with Mothers Trim Cleaner - judge tomorrow on ability
  • Cleaned wheel wells with Poorboy's All Purpose Cleaner 1:7.5 - did a good job
  • Washed with Meg's Hyper Wash and Autogeek Chenille Wash Mitt - a good all around soap and mitt, I think the Chenille style mitt is a good balance of cost, ease of rinsing in rinse bucket cleaning performance, low drag, general maintenance, and durability
  • Cleaned jambs with Mothers Showtime - love that cinnamon scent
  • PakShak microfiber to dry

Tomorrow's agenda: clean more trim, Poorboy's Polish with sealant, a carnuaba (likely Blackfire Midnight Sun), and more.

Cleaned up the interior of my daily driver. Vacuumed it, gave the rubber and plastics a light cleaning with meguiar's quik interior detailer and followed that up with some ultimate protectant. All leather was cleaned with meguiar's leather & vinyl cleaner and sealed with the sealant from the leather sealer system.

My weekend project finally washing the car after harsh winter and trying trim coating. Full write coming soon.

This is so off topic , but it was arguing with my mom about waxing , and she told me that you don't need to wax a brand new car ,we bought our car 3 months ago, and I said you still need to wax it , whether it's old or new, and she said it's all a bunch of advertising and it doesn't work, someone help me convince her that any car needs to be waxed.
Thanks

Polished up my moms car with some PolishAngel Final master polish and then laid down a layer of Bouncer's MoonShine wax.

Nothing today but last week detailing kicked my butt. At the Indianapolis Mecum Auction with a referral from Rasky , I corrected the paint on a 66 Olds F-85 with the 442 as a package and not the base model. It was a heater & radio delete . No carpet and vinyl interior. 3 two's instead of a 4bbl. Basically a factory race car. Another customer at the auction asked me to poish his hood and trunk on a 70 Chevelle LS-6 454 4-speed. The next day I returned and did a 57 T-bird and a 66 Chevelle 396 SS and started on a 66 Chev II SS. Returned on Friday and finished the Chevy II and did a 67 GTO ( hood and trunk sanding mark removal ). To finish the day out was a 66 Corvette. Saturday was Cars & Coffee , a stop in at the auction. Chevelle LS-^ went for $176,000.00. Then on to a cruise that night with the Indy Firebird Club to our local root beer stand. Sunday was a trip from Indy to Woodstock Il for a detailer get-together picking up rzatch along the way. 659 miles round trip. This week is a do nothing recovery week for this senior citizen. lol.

So far today, I folded some recently washed microfiber and purchased some nice terry cloth towels at Walmart. The ones at Autozone were thin.

One of my purple Autogeeek microfiber is still strangely shriveled. I do not recall what I had used on it before I washed it but came out of the wash still rough feeling. I will try soaking it.

I have another gallon of Blackfire Microfiber Cleaner coming today -- assuming Fed Ex delivers it.

I've got a charity car show coming up on Sunday, so I spent all week doing the spring prep on my garage queen El Camino.
Sunday night: (after washing the DD) Wash & clay
Monday night: First pass of hand-rubbed Meguiar's #7, left to soak.
Tuesday night: wipe and repeat above
Wednesday night: Polish with Meg's M80 (a little bit of haze remaining)
Thursday night: Finish M80, final polish with Poorboys BH
Friday night : 1st coat of Wolfgang DGPS, detail engine compartment, tires and wheels
Sat night: 2nd coat of WDGPS, vacuum, wipe interior down with Opti-Clean, do glass and final inspection.
Oh, by the way, I also put in 58 hours at my day job this week.

I'll probably fall asleep at the show in broad daylight.

I got a chance to ONR wash the family truckster. Dressed the tires, & a quick vacuum at the coin wash.

Unboxed an order from PBMG, a gallon of Blackfire Microfiber wash...ordered through amazon since I just needed one item. Bring on flat rate shipping options.
