What did you do detailing wise today?

I gave the van a quick wash and interior blow-out in the rain this afternoon, with a 100-percent chance of rain tomorrow.

Nuts, I know, but there was black grit stuck on the van and with all the rain we have forecast for my area, I didn`t want to look at the grit that long.

High-pressure hose busted after four years of gentle use. It`s the MTM Hydro blue hose (single braid), and I was a little disappointed to see the hose give up so soon.

Sprayed down the car at the coin-op. Washed it with ECH2O. Topped with Quartz Max. Tires with Q2M Preserve.

Clean...er.

Cant wait until I can hook up the hoses and do a proper foam and 2BW.

Finally stopped raining! Mild afternoon. Spent some quality time with the Xterra and got some fresh air in the lungs. Good interior and wash. Tires got a good cleaning and a fresh coat of Gtechniq tire. Had plenty of DP glass coating left, so coated all exterior glass, mirrors, head and tail lamps. Took some time, but well worth it. Glass looks amazing. And now I know it`s protected for a good long time. Finished with Trademark Extender spray wax. Used it after the vehicle was dry this time. WOW! I do like it as a drying aid but doing a traditional dry application really show cases this wax. Great finish with no issues. Very easy. DONE.

Cleaned up both black beauties this weekend. Wolfgang Uber Rinseless for both followed by my Blue Juice mix as a wipe down.

I washed the van today and made sure to do a good job with wheels, tires, and wells. We`d been getting a lot of rain lately and I`d been washing just the wheels with a boar`s hair brush, not barrels, tires, and wells.

I used my pressure washer but didn`t do a foam presoak because it was already pretty clean from just having been washed on Sunday or Monday. Like Accumulator, I just rinsed it off before getting down to business. I used the foamer to provide my soap (a mixture of two ounces of BLACKFIRE Car Wash and an ounce of BLACKFIRE Foam Booster) and a Microfiber Madness Incredipole as wash media. Car Wash and Foam Booster require more mixing than I`m willing to do. The booster seems to separate a little and I end up with the world`s most perfect foam at the end of the wash.

I mix by adding Car Wash and Foam Booster together in a three-ounce measuring cup and then pouring it into the foam bottle, which is already filled with hot water. I then put a cap on the bottle and shake it vigorously for thirty seconds or so. The injector is then attached and I`m foaming within two minutes. Fortunately, Car Wash foams well enough on its own.

Then I dressed my tires with BLACKFIRE Tire Gel using Optimum`s Opti-Gun (mixed about 3:1). That`s the best smell I`ve ever smelled in my life. Tire Gel doesn`t smell very strong when applying it normally, but when using compressed air, more of it is diffused into the air and the smell soothes my soul.

Made a cushy mouse pad
This acc/ag DMT knockoff scratched my car (crappy stitching) so it`s been an eye glasses towel for almost two years
Now repurposed as a wrist saving mouse pad cushion :)

Tried some new products, first up... Dr B. spray wax
Did not like this, like taking a hot candle and splattering wax on the hood.
Smeary, stuck on mess, Yuck! Off the balcony it goes!

Luck was with me. I got this 4oz. freebie of Jay Leno`s QD.
Tried that over the smeared Dr. B.
It was spectacular ! Easy to wipe, almost evaporating as I went, scent of orange Tang and sick slick. Put Jay`s on the drivers door and BSD on pass. Jay`s was much slicker and easier to apply. I love it also because was able to use it on my Nissan paint and my black Chevy. BSD smears on the Chevy.
Well off to order some JLQD

Brought a new car car home today. Told the dealer to leave the plastic on it. Pulled the plastic off when I got home, heading out again in a bit to get a wipe down and a coat of wax on it and get that interior dressed. Been eyeing one of these for a while now. Wanted red but getting one with the red interior is impossible. And the more I look at it, this car looks REALLY sharp in blue.

Sweet!

I have always loved red leather auto interiors. Sharp new ride.

Thanks! I`d always liked the look, too, but a BMW or something like that was out of reach. Was in the market for a V6, with the trend of shifting to turbo 4`s leaving me with few options. As soon as I saw the available red interior on this car I knew I had to have one.

Congratulations on the new TLX, Jrock645 !!!!!!!
Love the colors !!!! Beautiful !!!!
You LUCKY !!!!! :)

WOW !!! What an exciting vehicle.
Congrats !

:jawdrop:

Jrock - that blue looks killer. Congrats on the new ride - we want pics when you get it all dialed in!

Thanks! I was initially was skeptical of blue but this blue is a little different. It grew on me very quickly. It just looks “right” on this car.

I did a quick wipe down and such. Got the interior dressed, did a WW wipedown with Ech2O and put a coat of PA High Gloss on it. Already a couple small scratches in it, bummer. Gotta love soft paint.

Still mulling options for a coating and such. Will definitely post pics and do a write up when I figure out what I wanna do.

Great-looking ride, Jeremy!

Did you get rid of your Accord with the awesome custom audio?

Yeah. Yanked all the stuff out of it about a month or so ago. Was easier than I expected considering the length of the install.

Hoping to not do anything this car besides detail it, but I won’t rule out audio upgrades later said, the stock system sounds pretty good, just needs some bass.

Did some testing with a new wax for me that I bought a while ago.

It has no claim of longevity but what I have read about as fk1000p and collonite 476s.
This is the day after application of it. Since this is my sisters car with a blown motor she have let me to play around with it lol. And I`m going to compound and polish soon to test out different products and my new Shinemate EX603 mini polisher will be tested. So I did it simple for me since winter weather in Sweden is still hanging on :(
The panel wipe came out and was the only prep work. And the temps was around 38f I let it evaporate after wipe off for 20 minutes. Then I used a cheap foam applicator and very little wax on it and spread it out as thin as possible. Waited for 2 minutes as in normal temps it`s wipe on and put away the applicator and fold the mf towel and wipe it off. It was very easy to apply and wipe off. They recommend to use a damp foam applicator but this worked good also to apply. I thought it would be good for it to be taken the after pictures the day after. So of cause it snowed a little during the night and then raining in the morning. So 1 hour after it`s stopped raining I took this picture.

The biggest reason I bought this synthetic wax was it ability to fill out marring. They recommend to apply heavy when doing this which I did not. As the picture above you see to the cars right over the headlight where I applyied it on. The sheeting was a suprise and the other part of the hood is untreated.

Now to the filling ability. Picture to the left is before any prep work and the picture to the right is the day after application of Bilt Hamber Auto-Balm. I`m impressed with it what do you think?
