What are the two best cars you owned or had the 'use' of

Bill's great dream thread got me blasting back and hence the question;

For me it was a '68 Charger R/T 440 magnum that my rich cousin -let- me use for an evening, that was a night to remember...

Next, my brother had this great friend that always needed cash, he used to rent me his '66/'68 Healey 3000 MK III-man did I go broke taking that to visit my then girlfriend (now wife) in Elmira....

Besides the current 2002 Audi S8 it was a 1985 Red Mustang GT. The engine had a few modifications and put out over 300 hp. I could smoke the tires in the first 2 gears and bark 3rd. The only problem was keeping the clutch and tires on it. I bought a new set of tires about ever 28K miles and it usually coincided with a clutch replacement.

My roommate at the time had a white '85 GT convertible. I could easily take him. We traded every now and then when I was doing something that needed a convertible.

I guess my life has been boring, the only two cars I've ever been around that I would even consider being relatively fast would be my mom's 1986 Audi CS Turbo with the inline 5 turbo, it would haul for a big sedan. The other would be my S60 R that I have now. It's nothing TOO special, but 300hp AWD is pretty fun, plus the 4C suspension that you can adjust is pretty cool as well.

That's about it, pretty boring for me.

Hands down for me was my 90 300zx TT. I wish I had all the money back that I put into that car for mods, on the other it was worth every penny. Sold that car about 8 years ago and have always wanted to have it back. One of the best cars that I have driven was my friends 1989 20th anniversary Trans Am. Very rare car. It has an amped up Grand National engine with a Trans Am GTA body. Pulls like crazy when the turbo spools up and is bone stock.

Those Z's were bad machines man, I always loved those cars, especially the TT's. Those T/A's were pretty sweet too, I always like the GTA's. Those are two pretty solid picks.

thanks husker. Look up 20th an Trans Am they only made a little over 1500 units. It is only a GTA body. First time I drove it the car went sideways when the turbo hit.

Came across this pretty cool site about the T/A. http://www.carlustblog.com/2009/05/pontiac-firebird-20th-anniversary.html

The video down at the bottom was pretty cool, it's nice to see some old muscle smoke that AWD Evo. Very cool car, for sure, that's one that would have been cool to hang onto.

I always wanted to get my hands on one of the 1990 Turbo Grand Prix's, I always thought they were cool. Pontiac never really got into the Turbo game much, other than those couple of years.

I had an 01 Z06 that I bought used w 800 miles on Sept 07, 2001. A few days later when the world changed, I thought I better sell it. Then I got pissed off and thought, I'm not going to let these F'in terrorists take my dreams away.

It was my daily driver for 4 years. I put 70k miles on her including 40 trackdays at various venues from VIR to Sebring. Made many good friends that I'm still close with to this day. :driving:

Well, finish the story, did you park it and get a different DD or did you sell it?

Did you guys read the story about Papa John tracking down his old Camaro? The car was sold one other time and he bought it from the current owner for 250K. Good car guy story. The car is the gold one on some of the new commericals that are playing right now.

Nothing cool, yet.
I loved my 91 VW Jetta that think was a tank. Neglected to say the least. Said to say it died when hit got hit and cracked the front axle. 175k and still goi

I had a 2001 Mustang GT convertible, had a ton of money in that car. Drove nice, sounded nice, and was fun with the top down. Got married, had a kid, and got rid of the 'Stang. Still regret that.

But now I have a motorcycle which is fun and way faster than the car could ever be.

1991 Volkswagen GTI - Drove it off the lot on May 17, 1991 and sold last summer. It started out as a daily driver, was later converted into a dedicated auto-x machine, used a winter car in its latter years, and sold to a hand-picked buyer who's working on a restoration.

2006 Evolution IX SE - Short of a GT3, the single best car I've ever driven - hilarious performance envelope and a perfect fit for yours truly's driving style. It's the last of its breed, my second Evo - the only non-German cars I've purchased for personal use - and it was bought as a keeper. It's that good.

I have to say that my current car is by far the best performing car I've ever owned. 2007 BMW 335i Coupe with a few mods. This is my first turbo and I'm about half way done with my mod list and this car is phenomenal. Then again, it was extremely impressive bone stock.

My second would be a Camaro Z28 that my best friend let me take to my senior prom. It was about an early to mid 70's car he had done some "work" to and it was the single most powerful car I had dirven at that time. He was a bonified wrencher mechanic and did a bunch of stuff to that car I don't even remember. I do remember driving down Route 3 in Mass going to the all night "after" party on Cape Cod and passing under an overpass that was just a blur. My date kept screaming to slow down. I know, but you know how it was i.e. "young, dumb and full of c*m"!!!

My 66 Mustang Fastback, I got in 1971 and the next one was my 80 Corvette L82. I been looking at a 2010 Camaro
